There is a change in positions at the developer team of Anthem . The current Lead Producer is stepping down.
If we reported on Anthem in recent weeks and months, it was almost exclusively negative news. After an almost endless drought of content and far too few players to find groups, the air had simply gone out of Anthem. Now, although the Cataclysm event has finally arrived, the negative news doesn’t stop – an important employee from BioWare is leaving the company.
Who is leaving? One of the previous Lead Producers of Anthem, Ben Irving, is leaving BioWare. He was responsible for the live service of Anthem – in other words, what happened after the release. He could be seen regularly in the Anthem streams. He was considered “The Face of Anthem” by the community.
On Twitter, he announced that he had received the “exciting opportunity” to work at another game studio. He has obviously accepted this offer, as he thanked BioWare for the 8 years he was able to work there. It had always been his dream to work there since he played “Baldur’s Gate” for the first time many years ago.
Anthem is in good hands: In his tweets, Irving emphasizes that Anthem has a “bright future” ahead of it and that a great team is working on the game. In June Irving also appeared at E3 and spoke about the bright future of Anthem.
He enjoyed being in contact with the community and listening to their opinions – in both the good and the bad times of Anthem.
Who will take over in Irving’s footsteps is not yet clear. However, for the fans, this will likely be another negative message that will be interpreted in the sense of “The rats are leaving the sinking ship”. But who can blame them after the debacle of Anthem?
Are you still playing Anthem and hoping for improvement? Or have you finally put the game aside and will not touch it again?
