The 25-year-old YouTuber Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson is currently the individual with the most subscribers on YouTube. However, he almost lost his following because the content creator was reportedly invited onto the disaster submarine whose wreck now lies on the seabed.
What happened? A five-member team set out for tourist purposes to visit the wreck of the Titanic. The passenger liner sank in April 1912 to the seabed and was to be explored using a submarine that was controlled with a PC controller. However, shortly after the dive, contact with the submarine was lost.
The disaster occupied the world for about a week, during which even a horror game on Steam could celebrate a small success. After a few days, debris from the pressure chamber of the submarine, in which the five people were located, was found. It is believed that the five individuals died within milliseconds due to the implosion. And almost there would have been a sixth person, presumably MrBeast, who would have died in the tragic accident.
MrBeast is the largest American YouTuber. In a MeinMMO video, we have listed the biggest German Twitch streamers:
MrBeast would have almost been there
What is it about? MrBeast shares a text message on Twitter. He says it was directed at him. It states that he was invited to a dive with the aforementioned submarine. The visit to the Titanic was to take place later in the month, and the team would have been happy to have MrBeast on board. Although he does not explicitly say that the invitation was for the ill-fated dive, the timing would have fit:
MrBeast finds it frightening that he almost would have been on the submarine and is glad he declined the invitation. However, he does not reveal who exactly sent him the message. Some users therefore doubt the authenticity of the text message.
What have the fans noticed? The message was written with iMessage, Apple’s instant messaging service. The text box of a received message is white, while one’s own messages are displayed in blue. Thus, MrBeast must have sent the displayed message to himself.
What does MrBeast say about the allegations? According to MrBeast, the message came from a friend who invited him onto the submarine. He sent him a screenshot of the message. Whether this was a staff member of the company offering the tourist trips to the Titanic remains unclear.
He further states that he did not think to scroll up in the conversation and take a screenshot of it. A user urges MrBeast to prove its authenticity by taking a few minutes to scroll up and post the text. So far, that has not happened.
It remains unclear whether the message is real or not.
MrBeast has faced criticism from the community in the past: Rich influencer buys houses for all his employees, gets criticized, laughs: “Only I could get canceled for that”
