Nick “runthefutmarket” (23) is one of the biggest streamers on FIFA on Twitch. He is considered a transfer market expert, and his trading tips and analyses are appreciated by the community. However, he is simply not having fun with the current FIFA 23, even stating that the game has improved compared to previous years.
What kind of streamer is he? The streamer, who also goes by “Nick RTFM” online, is among the largest content creators in FIFA worldwide.
Every year he streams several hundred hours of Ultimate Team and has built a good reputation in the community with his tips and assessments. But for the current FIFA 23, Nick RTFM lacks the motivation.
In a stream, Nick explains that FIFA is currently at a strange point; he has to force himself to play for content.
What bothers NickRTFM about FIFA 23? In a stream, the content creator talks about his lack of motivation and tries to explain why the current release does not elicit the same excitement in him as its predecessors.
NickRTFM says he is by no means in a bad mood or angry, rather FIFA currently bores him. He logs in daily and plays a few matches, but then he quickly loses interest.
- NickRTFM finds FIFA too casual. During the week, that is quite pleasant; he enjoys playing the qualifiers for the Weekend League, says the streamer. But even in the Weekend League, he misses the feeling of a real challenge.
- NickRTFM lacks incentives to grind. In the past, he played Division Rivals daily, trying out different cards and combinations. Now, after 2 to 3 games, he has nothing left to do. The qualifiers during the week are the only thing he enjoys, but they are not unlimited playable.
- Meta abuse bothers NickRTFM in FIFA 23 more than in other games. To a certain extent, that is the case in every game, but in FIFA, meta abuse is especially a problem in the Elite Division. There, he encounters frustrating opponents who all use the same strong players like Mbappé.
- The rewards for higher ranks in the Weekend League are not desirable enough for NickRTFM. The streamer believes that for the average person who does not earn money with FIFA, there is virtually no motivation to reach a rank higher than rank 5. The rewards for rank 1 are not strong enough to justify the additional effort. Even for streamers like him, the rewards do not provide enough content.
- NickRTFM sees the root of the problems in the gameplay. While it has slightly improved compared to previous years, it is currently too automated and not varied enough. The gameplay itself does not provide any fun, leading to playing only for the rewards, judges the streamer.
- Even trading, which NickRTFM previously spent a lot of time on, does not excite him at the moment. The market is currently quite dead, and he has to force himself to trade for content, says the streamer.
A video featuring Nick’s critique can be viewed here in English:
This is what NickRTFM suggests: To solve the problems, the streamer suggests revising the rewards. However, he does not demand a deterioration in the rewards for rank 5 of FUT Champions. Rather, the rewards for the higher ranks should be improved.
If there were an incredibly good pack for rank 1, content creators like him would “grind like crazy” to grab it. Then he would have more motivation to play, and the viewers, who can only dream of such ranks, would have something to watch.
At the moment, however, NickRTFM is pessimistic that such a change will happen.
There is currently frustration in the German streaming scene about FIFA as well. Elias “EliasN97” Nerlich, the biggest FIFA streamer, usually enjoys a good reputation. However, he completely missed the mark with his choice of a new sponsor and faced criticism.
