One of the best upgrades for your PS5 has not been so cheap for a long time as on Prime Day

On Prime Day, many products are offered at a lower price. Included is an M.2 SSD for your PS5, which hasn’t been this cheap in a long time.

What kind of M2 SSD is this? The Corsair MP 600 Pro is an M.2 SSD that has a heatsink and fits excellently in your PS5 due to its low profile. A heatsink is recommended by Sony for the PS5, but you can also retrofit a heatsink.

Is the M.2 SSD worth it? The colleagues from ComputerBase have already tested the M.2 SSD and describe the Corsair MP 600 Pro as one of the “fastest consumer SSDs available.” According to testers, the SSD delivers very good write and read performance and fast response times. It is therefore well-suited for both PC and PS5.

Testers couldn’t find any real drawbacks, but they point out that the M.2 SSD can get quite warm at 65 degrees. The XT model of the SSD handles temperatures better but is not suitable for the PS5.

Caution when purchasing: There is also an XT version of the MP 600 Pro. This version has a significantly bulkier heatsink and therefore does not fit in your PS5, but it does fit in your gaming PC. The XT version offers better cooling performance; however, for the PS5, you should opt for the model with the low profile, as the higher heatsink does not fit in the PS5.

How good is the offer? If you check Geizhals.de, you will find that 139 euros for 2 TB of storage is a very good deal. The last time the M.2 SSD was this cheap was at the end of November 2024 at 110 euros. It was only cheaper on Prime Day 2023. Since then, the prices have always been higher.
