What is the new update? The latest update 3.0 is called Amphibious Assault. New in the game are another playable faction, weapons, amphibious vehicles, and a coastal map.
This makes Amphibious Assault the largest update yet with arguably the most interesting additions to Squad.
What is the new faction? In line with the new map, the new playable faction is the US Marines. They come equipped with typical marine gear and amphibious vehicles.
In general, the selected faction determines which weapons and vehicles you have access to. Some factions may also be unavailable on certain maps.
What does the new map look like? The Black Coast map is a coastal landscape. Additionally, the developers Offworld Industries have improved the water mechanics in the game.
What’s the deal with the amphibious vehicles? Until now, vehicles in the game could only travel on land. With the update, the water route for vehicles is now also unlocked.
With the new amphibious vehicles, you can navigate in deeper waters where normal vehicles are unable to move.
What new weapons are available? New additions to the arsenal include the M16 and M27 assault rifles, and the machine guns type M38 DMR, M249 SAW, and M240. The SMAW rocket launcher is also included since the update.
