From a hidden gem, the game has gradually become a real hit and is now regularly found in the top 20 of the Steam charts. Although player numbers fluctuate depending on major patch releases, tens of thousands kill and survive day by day.
From now on, you can get Dead by Daylight for free – at least on PC.
How does it work? To grab Dead by Daylight for PC for free, you need the Epic Games Launcher. There have been free games every week for many months now, but only for a short time. If you add the corresponding games to your library within this time frame, you can keep the games permanently and play them at your convenience.
When is Dead by Daylight free? You can get Dead by Daylight for free on the Epic Games Store between December 2nd and December 9th. This includes the base game, which would otherwise cost around €20. The last chance for this is on December 9th at 4:59 PM.
While there are still plenty of DLCs for Dead by Daylight featuring new killers and survivors, a large part of it can be earned and unlocked in-game. Only the licensed characters, such as those from Halloween, SAW, or Silent Hill, can be acquired by purchasing DLCs.
Who is this game for? Dead by Daylight is generally worth it for solo players but also for those who enjoy playing in a coordinated group. The killers and survivors differ so dramatically in their gameplay that it’s basically two different experiences. Since you can specifically register as a killer or survivor, you never have to play a role that you have no interest in.
However, you need to have a certain tolerance for frustration for Dead by Daylight, as the horror game has a fairly steep learning curve.
Aside from that, “free” is of course always a good argument to at least add the game to your library – you might want to play it later, even if you have no interest at the moment.
