What is Trials of Mana? Trials of Mana was originally released in 1995 on the SNES and was the successor to the widely acclaimed Secret of Mana. In 2020, there was a remake of Trials of Mana for PC and consoles, which featured modernized gameplay and completely revamped 3D graphics.
What is special about the game? Those who know the Mana games are aware that you can look forward to a wonderfully told JRPG story. Additionally, the game offers exciting real-time battles. A special feature of Trials of Mana is that you have the choice between 6 protagonists from which you select 3. Each of these heroes has its own origin story, which you play through before they eventually meet in the main quest.
Mobile Version with a lot of automation
What changes in the mobile version? The remake for PC and consoles introduced 3D graphics and camera settings. This will now be further adjusted in the upcoming mobile version. Overall, Square Enix seems to focus on making it as user-friendly as possible on smartphones.
Therefore, the mobile version will introduce features such as automatic camera adjustments, automatic targeting, and completely automated battles in autopilot mode.
Especially the latter feature is not popular with all players, as many games with autoplay feel more like hero managers than real games. On the other hand, autoplay makes the game easier on smartphones.
When will Trials of Mana be released for mobile? Trials of Mana is supposed to be released on July 15, 2021, in the Play Store and the App Store. The game is expected to cost 20 euros.
This could work out well
I enjoyed playing the Mana games back in the 90s, especially the predecessor of Trials, Secret of Mana. In my opinion, the gameplay fits perfectly on mobile, as long as autobattle is only needed for the basic enemies and players should control the boss fights themselves. Because always just watching is also boring, even if I play games like Trials of Mana mainly for the story and not just for the action.
