With Season 1, Fallout 76 has received numerous new features. One of them has been wished for by players for a long time. However, the form in which it came is not very popular. That is supposed to change now.
What is this feature? The Ammo Converter is a new C.A.M.P. item introduced with Season 1 “The Legendary Race” in Fallout 76. It helps exchange unused ammunition for the ones players really need.
Previously, ammunition for weapons that players did not use clogged storage and inventories or was simply discarded. Because you could neither sell nor dismantle them. However, with the Ammo Converter, you can now exchange them for points, which you can then use to buy other ammunition.
The blueprint for the Ammo Converter is one of the rewards that can be earned relatively early in the 100 levels of the free Season Pass. Every player should be able to get it relatively quickly.

Although this is a feature that players have been asking for since the beta of Fallout 76, the Ammo Converter has a major problem.
Upcoming update improves the Ammo Converter
What is the problem? Currently, you need to approach the converter to exchange ammunition and navigate through three screens:
- first, you choose whether you want to exchange ammunition for points or points for ammunition
- then you need to select the ammunition category
- finally, you need to select the corresponding ammunition in the category
After exchanging, you are sent back to the main menu. So you have to navigate through each of these menus every single time you want to exchange ammunition.
In itself, this wouldn’t be so annoying if there weren’t more limitations. Ammunition can only be exchanged for fixed values (e.g., 100 pieces, 50 pieces, 3 pieces, etc., depending on the ammunition), and you can accumulate a maximum of 2,000 ammo points.
So if you want to exchange several tens of thousands of rounds of a particular ammunition, it can take a very long time, especially since you can only exchange a limited amount until the points cap is reached.
How will it get better? First of all, the limits will be raised. You can now exchange directly ten or a hundred times the amount, and the limit for ammo points has been raised to 10,000.
Additionally, for every type of ammunition, the option to buy and sell will be integrated. So you will need one less screen to navigate through when exchanging ammunition.
We do not yet know exactly when the change will come. In the official “From the Vault”, where this change was announced, it is stated that the change will come with the “next major patch”. This could be update 21 or even earlier. Update 21 is expected to be released on August 4.

In the update, Bethesda also reveals that the legendary vendor currently has some new offers. She offers you legendary armor and weapons at a 25% discount. Three-star weapons thus only cost about 75 coins. The offer lasts until July 13.
Additionally, the new public event “A Colossal Problem” is now playable on the test server. Bethesda has revealed what exactly you can test, namely among other things, the new fight against a legendary boss in the Monongah Mine. Automatic atomic bombs will also drop on the mine daily at 6:00 PM, followed by another every 4 hours.
Additionally, the legendary skill cards will appear again on the test server. They are supposed to make your character even stronger.
Together with the upcoming update 21 “A Wasteland for All,” the new questline “Steel Dawn” is also coming, in which the legendary Steel Brotherhood will likely come to Appalachia. Additionally, there are already cryptic radio signals that you can decipher and which announce the coming of the Brotherhood.
