“One doesn’t have to buy everything from FromSoftware” – Souls fans find that Elden Ring: Nightreign is missing the most important aspect

Elden Ring: Nightreign mixes two genres to enchant its fans again with fresh gameplay. Many do not like the idea, as they feel that the most important aspect from the Souls games is missing.

What kind of game is this? This is Elden Ring: Nightreign – a spin-off of the Souls game of the same name by FromSoftware. In this game, you take on the role of one of the 8 classes to then fight against the so-called Night-Lords.

The gameplay is simple but also challenging: alone or in a trio, you land on one of the available maps, need to loot, defeat smaller bosses, and then after 2 nights, fight against the big main boss. Essentially, it feels like a mix of Elden Ring and Fortnite.

Since FromSoftware conducted a network test, fans already know what to expect from the game. Some love it, but many Souls enthusiasts are skeptical. They feel it lacks the special something that the Souls games usually have.

Souls games are known for their freedoms

What do players miss in Nightreign? Freedom and the feeling of exploring things at their own pace. These important points are not present in Nightreign. The maps repeat themselves eventually, and the pace is set by the annoying storm that is closely following the hero.

For many, Nightreign has nothing to do with Souls, and this is reflected in the comments on Reddit:
