In Once Human there are two types of servers, and both have a different focus in terms of their scenarios. What they are and which one suits you can be found in our brief overview.
What types of servers are there? In Once Human, you have the choice to join a server before you start. A total of two types of servers are available to you:
- A PvE server focused on survival
- A PvP server focused on confrontations between factions and the Agency
Depending on which server you choose, the scenario will change for you as well. A scenario reflects the current story that takes place on one of the servers. All PvE servers share the same scenario, just like all PvP servers do.
So which server should you choose, and can you still play PvP on a PvE server? We will tell you now.
PvP or PvE server – Which one should I play?
Which server fits me? That depends on the scenario and the story you want to experience. A PvP server possesses the same survival elements as a PvE server. The fine difference is only the seasonal scenario and how the season develops towards the end of the 6-week duration.
While the PvE servers focus more on mutants, you will necessarily encounter factions and the Agency on the PvP servers.
Can I play PvP on both types of servers? Yes, that is possible. The interesting thing is that the PvP mode is not activated on the PvP servers, just as it is not on the PvE servers. You need to enable it manually on both types of servers. To temporarily activate the chaos mode, you must hold down the “P” key.
Once you have activated the chaos mode, you can deal temporary damage to opponents who are also in chaos mode. There is no wild shooting like in DayZ, where you have no choice but to defend yourself. If you don’t feel like PvP on your PvP or PvE server, you can skillfully ignore the chaos mode.
The PvP timer counts down during your fights. If you are engaged in a fight, it will be continuously extended so that you can keep fighting.
Are there PvP zones? Not directly. Since the patch on July 18 (source: oncehuman.game), there is a special event on the PvP and PvE servers. Between 9 PM and 10 PM, a transporter will appear on the roads of Red Sands that you can loot. In the area around the transporter, PvP is activated.
You do not lose any items in combat, and your equipment is also immune to wear. However, this area is a temporary battleground in which other players will necessarily face off.
