There were issues with the FIFA 20 transfer market and servers last night. Players reported that the servers were down and the transfer market was unavailable. EA Sports responded.
What happened? Yesterday evening, on September 26th, between 8 PM and 10 PM, numerous players reported issues and disruptions in FIFA 20. Some fans were kicked from Ultimate Team, others noticed long loading times and failed interactions in the transfer market. The EAFC catalog was also partially unavailable.
I was playing FUT at that time last night and also noticed disruptions in the transfer market: Purchased players had a long loading bar over their card and I couldn’t add them to my club. However, I wasn’t kicked and received my cards an hour later.
Around 9 PM, EA Help tweeted that they were investigating connection issues in FIFA 20 affecting the transfer market, web app, and catalog.
Transfer market in Ultimate Team was unavailable for a long time
How EA responded: The transfer market situation worsened. Just in time for the official release of the standard edition of FIFA 20, EA Sports tweeted: Due to unforeseen technical problems, the transfer market has been disabled on PS4 and PC. They are investigating the issue and working on a solution.
So those who wanted to start building their dream teams at midnight could not do so. And the transfer market lock lasted a long time.
Transfer market back online, but there are still issues: Only this morning, shortly after 6 AM, EA gave the all-clear. The transfer market is back online. They thank for the patience.
Additionally, it is pointed out that for some completed purchases and sales in FUT 20 it may state that these are still in process. This issue should be resolved quickly.

What are some players saying? On Twitter, some players responded that this was not true. The transfer market is still down for them. We checked this around 7 AM (PS4) – we had access to the transfer market. Meanwhile, more reports are coming in: Yes, the transfer market is working.
On reddit, however, fans are still complaining: One invested 50k coins in a player. The money is gone, but the player is not in his club.
It remains to be seen whether the last issues will be resolved and whether the transfer market will run stably now.
Many players are also demanding compensation. Preferably in the form of free packs.
