On Steam, a new game has been announced where you will explore the untamed wilderness of the Wild West and will face difficult decisions.
What game is this about? ColdRidge is a new turn-based game on Steam that aims to put you in challenging situations. It is being developed by some strategy veterans who have worked for 12 years at the French studio Amplitude (known among other things for Humankind) and have now come together under the name Frog Collective.
Their first project will now be a turn-based exploration game in the Wild West, but with a mystical touch.
What can you expect? The trailer gives you a first glimpse of the graphics and gameplay that awaits you in ColdRidge. While everything seems quite simple and clear, it is graphically designed with loving illustrations and in typical Western colors.
In the game, you take on the role of a prospector and traverse the untamed wilderness of ColdRidge, with your task sounding simple at first:
- Explore the unknown areas of ColdRidge and map resources for powerful guilds.
- You accept various contracts that you fulfill by carefully planning your moves. To gain advantages and overcome obstacles, you should always incorporate the terrain and your equipment into your plans.
- You should strategically manage contracts to maximize your profits and ensure your long-term survival.
- While exploring the wilderness, you will encounter complex puzzles that need to be solved.
- Between your missions for the guild, you can buy new equipment from traders to make your life a little easier.
As the trailer shows, it is important that you complete your tasks by the right time if you do not want to be thrown outside the walls of the settlement in winter.
At the trader, you can buy magical portals, as shown in the trailer. It is still unclear how exactly they work and whether you can use them to travel quickly between different locations.
Perhaps the magical portals will simply lead you to completely unknown places. Because it becomes clear that in ColdRidge, no “normal” Wild West awaits you.
