In Destiny 2 players have discovered that the old exotic “Two-Tailed Fox” (eng. Two-Tailed Fox) takes down the Templar from the Vault of Glass in a mere 4 seconds. Is this a glitch and is it at risk of being disabled by Bungie?
This exotic is naughty:
- The exotic rocket launcher Two-Tailed Fox has been in Destiny 2 since Forsaken (2018).
- The special feature of the weapon is that it fires two rockets per shot: one Solar rocket and one Void rocket.
- Although the exotic was never really bad, it never really shone bright either. Just a typical exotic with a few lovers, but nobody expects it in a serious raid run.
- Players have been hoping for an exotic catalyst for years that significantly upgrades the Two-Tailed Fox (for example, a 3rd Arc rocket would be welcome).
But the inconspicuous exotic is actually quite naughty and melts the Templar in 4 seconds. You know, the big boss in the raid Vault of Glass, who bombards you with shots for 3 encounters while cowardly hiding behind a shield?
The Templar has no chance against Two-Tailed Fox
This is how quickly the boss dies: The well-known YouTuber Lucky10P is in the iconic raid Vault of Glass, which made its premiere in Destiny 2 just this Season 14.
In the video, you can see Lucky and his Guardian buddies trying to take down the Templar normally. He is carrying the relic, when suddenly astonished calls in the chat are heard: “WTF!” and “What just happened?” Lucky doesn’t even realize that the raid boss has been defeated – in about 4 seconds.
We then see that this boss melt was not planned. Originally, the YouTuber just wanted to test the power of the exotic for a DPS list. But since the Templar died so unnaturally fast, they examined the Two-Tailed Fox more closely.
- Taking down the Templar in one phase is common practice for many teams.
- However, this takes significantly longer, usually requires the Anarchy exotic, a very expensive mod, and constant switching between slug shotguns.
- While 5 Guardians deal damage to the boss, the relic holder hops around the arena and occupies teleport points.
- Two-Tailed Fox trivializes the fight as seen.
Is this a bug? The team was able to replicate the astronomical damage multiple times and melted the Templar repeatedly within seconds. However, the damage numbers don’t quite fit the picture. The exotic is somehow buggy. However, it seems that more than just one Guardian needs to have the weapon for the damage bug to trigger.
Thus, Two-Tailed Fox joins the list of broken exotics – a list that is led by Glitch-King Telesto. Or does the Destiny 2 Templar belong on the list of broken raid bosses?
Pro calls everyone to test: After initial tests, Lucky suggests that it likely has to do with everyone in the group firing the exotic with its 2 rockets per shot simultaneously. He then calls on his viewers to test the Two-Tailed Fox against all raid bosses in Destiny 2.
You haven’t heard it from us, but Xur has the Two-Tailed Fox this week conveniently available. So you can grab the buggy rocket launcher and test it wildly.
Is the next disabling of an exotic imminent?
This is how Guardians joke: Right after it became known how quickly the Templar melted, the first Guardians joked that the Two-Tailed Fox would soon be banned. Others poke fun at Bungie’s typical posts on the topic and say: “Due to a bug with the Two-Tailed Fox, we have disabled the weapon for the Trials of Osiris”.
Others, however, dryly stated: This is no joke, it will definitely happen. So far, Bungie has, for example, forcibly disabled a mod and the new Hunter exotic for a day.
What does Bungie say about it? So far, developer Bungie (as of 15.06. at 10 AM) has not commented on the topic. You can therefore equip the unintentionally powerful rocket launcher at will.
Currently, MeinMMO doesn’t see a deactivation as urgently needed since the Two-Tailed Fox is not bugged in PvP or doesn’t help you obtain items from the Eververse faster. However, if it turns out that all bosses fall as quickly as the Templar, then things could look very different quickly.
What do you think of the Two-Tailed Fox? Have you enjoyed using the exotic like this and are you glad that the Templar now melts? Or does such bugs annoy you a lot? Let us know in the comments.
Due to another bug, Guardians are now really resilient knights: Destiny 2 has a new strongest sword – But there are 2 catches
