Old Exotic Duo in Destiny 2 is now so strong that some bosses melt in seconds

Destiny 2 brings exotic changes with a new season. Some of these are minimal, while others significantly alter gameplay. We at MeinMMO show you which exotic duo you definitely should try.

This pair of exotics is about: The Last Word and the lucky pants. Through the new sandbox changes that came into effect with the Season of the Lost, the old hunter exotic “The Lucky Pants” received a new coat of paint. This change ensured that a specific weapon type now perfectly harmonizes with the old exotic.

But what makes these two exotics DPS monsters?

With the revision of the exotics in the Season of the Lost, the previously less relevant hunter exotic “The Lucky Pants” was revamped. Now, the wearer of these pants benefits not only from the perks “Opening Shot” and “Quickdraw,” but every shot that hits the same target increases the damage of the next shot further until the buff expires.

Here’s why both exotics complement each other: The Last Word has always featured the intrinsic perk “Fanned Fire.” This perk allows you to shoot automatically from the hip. Every hip shot grants bonus precision damage. With every hip fire hit, you achieve faster reload speed and increased accuracy.

As the Lucky Pants now provide a 5-second buff that can stack up to 10 times, with each subsequent shot on the same target dealing more damage, a dangerous combination is created with The Last Word.

Could both exotics prove themselves in the endgame? It’s possible. The only issue here lies with the 5-second buff. When this buff expires, a debuff appears that lasts for 10 seconds and indicates that you no longer have luck. During this time, no significant damage can be built up.

Thus, this exotic combo is definitely worth a try. One could equip The Last Word with a slug shotgun and a linear fusion rifle, both of which possess self-loading chambers and a Vorpal weapon. This would provide a good loadout for the Templar from the Glass Chamber.
