The Witcher 4 is one of the most anticipated games of all time. Now the manufacturer NVIDIA supports development with new technology. However, not all gamers will be able to take advantage of this progress.
What technology is new? The chip manufacturer first showcased a demo video on YouTube of their RTX Mega Geometry technology in October 2025. In a blog post on NVIDIA’s site from March 10, 2026, they also announced that The Witcher 4 is expected to support the technology.
Developers are expected to be able to create scenes involving ray tracing 100 times faster and render them in real time. Players can expect a 5-20 percent FPS boost in supported games like Alan Wake 2.
CD Projekt Red is collaborating with NVIDIA to implement this in The Witcher 4. Rendering engineer Cezary Bella from CD Projekt says he can’t wait for players to experience such a high level of detail in The Witcher 4. However, gamers will have to wait another year, as the game by Project Red is set to be released in 2027 and will be very expensive.
AMD and Intel users miss out
What does this mean exactly? Gamers with an NVIDIA GPU can be excited and take advantage of Mega Geometry in upcoming titles like CONTROL Resonant. However, over a third of all players will have to forgo the additional FPS.
To utilize the new feature, you need an RTX graphics card, which has been available since NVIDIA’s 20 series. Additionally, the game must support the technology, similar to DLSS and Frame Generation.
Which players do not benefit from this? According to the Steam hardware survey from December 2025, about 19 percent of players use AMD and Intel graphics cards, which cannot benefit from this innovation (via web.archive.org).
Additionally, about 15 percent of all Steam users, as we calculated, use older non-RTX graphics cards like the GTX 1060 and will also miss out. It is also noted that about 9 percent in the survey are listed as “other” GPUs, and these cards will likely not support the technology either.

In total, about 34 to 43 percent of all Steam players cannot benefit from the advantages of Mega Geometry. NVIDIA is also preparing for the release of the fastest GPU in 2026, but for most gamers, this will hardly be relevant.
Which games use RTX Mega Geometry? Currently, only a few upcoming titles are known that are expected to feature NVIDIA’s enhancements. These include:
- The Witcher 4
- Alan Wake 2
- Golden Light 007
- CONTROL Resonant
Whether the geometry technology will be integrated into already released titles is still unclear. However, already released games constantly receive DLSS and Multi-Frame Generation updates, indicating potential implementation in older titles.
