The latest generation of RTX graphics cards are among the best GPUs on the market right now. NVIDIA has even lowered its prices in Germany, but there’s a catch.
How cheap are the graphics cards now? Only the Founders Edition of the new RTX-50 series has benefited from the price reduction. Here are the prices you can expect per model:
- RTX 5090: From €2,329 to €2,229 – (€100 less)
- RTX 5080: From €1,169 to €1,119 – (€50 less)
- RTX 5070: From €649 to €619 – (€30 less)
This is a good sign, especially considering the current market and those looking to upgrade their systems. According to pcgamesn, the price drop has something to do with the dollar’s exchange rate, which has reached a new low since March 5. Although the news of lower prices is a reason to celebrate, hardly anyone will benefit from it.
Cheaper, but only a few can benefit
What’s the catch? Despite the price drop from NVIDIA, there aren’t automatically new units available from the manufacturer. The price has been adjusted, but the stock remains the same – there are none to buy.
As for the Founders Edition, the officially cheaper GPUs of the 50-series are sold out everywhere, except for scalpers who are selling their goods at exorbitant prices. Additionally, these prices apply only to the Founders Edition. Partnerships with Zotac, Asus, or MSI are excluded – they have their own, usually pricier prices.
However, it is still a positive step from NVIDIA in the right direction. Graphics cards are among the most expensive components in a system, and ultimately it looked like prices would only increase.
Unfortunately, we cannot answer what the true reason for the price reduction is, but if you’re looking for a graphics card that offers performance and can even compete with the RTX-50 series, you might want to look at the competition.
