Nvidia is offering graphics cards at particularly low prices on the occasion of gamescom. You can only get them in Cologne, but the prices are really good. It’s even worth a trip to the metropolis on the Rhine.
Graphics cards are currently a rare and expensive commodity. If you want to have a graphics card, you have to pay a lot of money for it. Especially at times when graphics cards are sold for thousands of euros on eBay, fair offers in the hardware market are a rarity.
This is the offer: Now Nvidia and Xperion Saturn have come up with something special. Xperion Saturn is a gaming exhibition on the Saturn site at the Kölner Hansaring. Together, the sellers and manufacturers are offering various RTX-3000 graphics cards at particularly low prices.
This is the disadvantage:
- If you want to take advantage of the really good offers, you have to travel to Cologne. The offers for the graphics cards are only valid at Xperion Saturn at Hansaring in Cologne.
- The sales strategy is intended to prevent greedy scalpers from stocking up on dozens of graphics cards to resell them.
However, the current offers from Nvidia and Saturn are so good that the trip to Cologne could be worthwhile. MeinMMO has taken a closer look at the offers for you.
How long is the offer valid? The offer has been valid since 12:00 PM on Thursday, August 26. According to Nvidia’s PR agency, the promotion runs until Saturday, August 28. The promotion ends earlier if all graphics cards are sold out.
In Cologne, you can get the GeForce RTX 3060 at the best price
This is what you currently pay in Cologne: At the fair, you pay either 349 euros (ASUS model) or 399 euros (ZOTAC model) for the GeForce RTX 3060.
What does the RTX 3060 cost elsewhere in retail? If you want to buy a GeForce RTX 3060 in retail, you have to pay at least 650 euros. On Geizhals, prices start at around 600 euros, but you may need to calculate shipping costs for some offers (via geizhals.de)
This is why the offer is so good: Nvidia’s official recommended retail price for the RTX 3060 is 329 euros. The offers at Saturn are therefore in the range where graphics card prices are usually found.
For custom models (graphics card models from third-party vendors), prices are usually slightly above the recommended retail price, as they often offer a higher clock speed or a better cooler.
Currently, you pay less for graphics cards in Cologne than ever before and pay the prices one would expect from a graphics card. In retail or on various websites, you would pay at least double the price that you would now have to pay in Cologne.
For whom is the RTX 3060 worthwhile? The graphics card is particularly interesting for gamers who want to play at Full HD with high FPS. If you play fast shooters at Full HD and need high frame rates, the RTX 3060 is definitely a good choice. In WQHD, you can also play with over 100 FPS, but you will have to forgo graphical details.
If you want to try ray tracing, the RTX 3060 is also worth a look. However, for games and full ray tracing features, the RTX 3060 is a bit too weak. You should then look for more powerful models and aim for at least the RTX 3060 Ti or the RTX 3070.
A comprehensive analysis of the smallest RTX-3000 graphics card can also be found here at MeinMMO:
Where can you find the offer? You can only buy the offers at the Xperion Saturn in Cologne. There is no online offer or reservation options. Xperion Saturn lists on its official website whether the graphics cards are still available. So if you’re considering traveling to Cologne for the offers, make sure to regularly check the offers page (via xperion-saturn.de). You can also always find the current status on the official Twitter account of Xperion:
For around 400 euros, you definitely get a fast gaming graphics card for Full HD resolutions. We would generally advise against many online offers if you had to pay more than 700 euros for the GeForce RTX 3060, as that is only worth it to a limited extent:
RTX 3060 currently costs 700 € – Be careful, that is by no means worth it
