A big fan of Super Smash Bros. has now created an Overwatch mode that lets you play Nintendo’s brawler – just with the Overwatch heroes.
The Overwatch workshop has been available in the live version of Blizzard’s hero shooter for a few days now, and more and more cool modes are being created by fans.
After a “Sparta” mode, there’s now another highlight that is already extremely popular among players: Super Smashwatch. It’s essentially an adaptation of Nintendo’s hero brawler “Super Smash Bros.” and has surprisingly adopted many features from the original.
Increasing percentages for strong knockbacks: As in real Smash Bros, each character is assigned a percentage that dictates how far the character is knocked back when hit. Once a character can no longer hold on to the platform (i.e., “flies off the screen”), they lose one of three lives.
The controls are adapted to a 2D environment. With the WASD keys, you can only change your orientation and either move forward or backward. Depending on the character, you have different weapons and abilities to attack your opponents, as you can see in the trailer above.
Double jump and block: Other elements from Smash have also been adopted. Characters can activate a shield that blocks damage for a few seconds, preventing the percentage from rising. They can also perform a double jump to reach higher positions or save themselves on a platform.
Here’s how you can play Super Smashwatch: To try out the mode yourself, you just need to enter the game code in the Overwatch workshop. The code is “VZ4YG”. Then you can start playing and toss each other off the platforms.
What do you think of this workshop mode? A cool thing that everyone should definitely check out?
