Now, on October 11, 2022, the 2nd Prime Day of the year begins. MeinMMO explains what to expect and how to save money while taking advantage of the “Prime Exclusive Offers.”
What is Prime Day? Prime Day starts on Amazon on October 11 and runs until October 12. Although Amazon does not call the event Prime Day, but rather “Prime exclusive offers,” the principle remains the same: The offers are only valid if you have an active Prime subscription.
MeinMMO presents a few tips on how you can save money during the sale event. At the end, we also have a tip for what products you should especially keep an eye on during Prime Day.

Create a list
What does that do for me? Make a list ahead of time before Prime Day of which products interest you. Write down the most interesting graphics cards or accessories for your computer on a list, so you can better overview the thousands of offers on Prime Day. Don’t buy just because it’s a deal
On Prime Day, stores and Amazon advertise great discounts and special offers that are only available at that time. However, don’t be deceived by this. These are psychological tricks designed to get you to add as much as possible to your cart.
So, consider before the big purchases whether you really want to buy the items, whether you actually need them, and definitely compare prices. Because large discount numbers want to entice you to buy, and they may not even be “best prices.”
Compare prices
What does that do for me? Compare the prices before you buy anything. When you compare the prices, you will see how good the offer really is and avoid buying supposed bargains that aren’t really bargains at all.
Comparison portals like Idealo or Geizhals quickly and easily show you whether the current deal is a great offer or if the product has been available at that price for months.
Providers must now also specify prices for the last 30 days. This way, you can directly see on Amazon whether the product was cheaper in the past 30 days or if it’s “just” a nice offer. This is practical but doesn’t match the comprehensive comparison of Geizhals and co.
Don’t have high expectations for Prime Day
What does that do for me? Don’t have high expectations for Prime Day in October. Amazon has already hosted a Prime Day, and we do not know how large and extensive the offers will be in October. In the worst case, there are only big discounts on Amazon’s own products like Kindle and Echo:
- We don’t expect that you’ll find the Xbox Series X or the PS5 on sale since that is pretty unlikely.
- It is also unlikely that there will be high discounts on the new Ryzen 7000 processors or on DDR5 RAM.
- The Nintendo Switch (with docking station or OLED version) is quite stable between 300 and 330 Euros. We consider it unlikely that there will be a significant price drop.

Tip: Check out the offers on graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia
What does that do for me? AMD and Nvidia are both preparing their new generation, and this also lowers the prices of the current graphics cards. There is a real chance to save a lot of money on graphics cards. Currently, you can find a strong discount on AMD’s fastest graphics card.
You can regularly find good offers for GPUs from AMD and Nvidia already, and Prime Day could add another bonus. Especially good offers can be found in the high-end range, such as RTX 3070, RTX 3080, RX 6700 XT, 6800 (XT), and the like.
Budget graphics cards like the RX 6500 XT or the RTX 3050 are unlikely to be found on sale since prices here are already quite low and these GPUs will also find their place in the market long-term.
