In Borderlands 3, the 4th DLC has arrived, marking the last expansion for now. Perfect timing to jump back in – as this DLC also introduced a new max level.
What’s new in Borderlands 3: For a few days now, players can battle through the psyche of former vault hunter Krieg. This DLC came three months after the last expansion “Blood Money”, providing long-awaited content replenishment.
The DLC alone is worth it to check back into the loot shooter. But even players without the expansion should take another look at Borderlands 3. The reason is that a certain part of the game will now not change for the time being: the max level.
The new max level is ideal for returning players
Changes to levels: Last Thursday, the hotfix brought support for the Krieg DLC and also raised the level cap by another 5 points. This means: Your vault hunters can now reach level 65.
This once again means that the weapons previously collected at the top level of 60 will be below the new max level. You will have to farm your favorite weapons again to sweep the strongest enemies off the map in seconds. However, it seems this is the last time for an indefinite period. This allows players who have preferred to wait for “impending” level increases to start searching.
Farming new weapons had disturbed some players during past max level increases. Also, because those increases were not as substantial and often only encompassed two to three levels. It was quite annoying when the Godroll Hellwalker suddenly fell just short of the mark.
The recent level increases typically came with newly released DLCs. However, since “Psycho Krieg” will be the last for now, the max level is likely set – at least for a while.
Further innovations for Borderlands 3 have been announced, but they have not been precisely detailed yet. It is known that Borderlands 3 will get an upgrade for the next-gen consoles, will feature 4-player split-screen, and that there will be two additional purchasable contents. These are expected to be a new game mode and new skill trees.
Story-based DLCs, as seen in the first Borderlands year, are still missing in the announcements. The same goes for an expansion of the max level – although it cannot be ruled out that an increase might come at some point.
Until then, players can safely start collecting weapons again. By the way, Borderlands 3 is one of the 6 online games we recommend for September.
