Alienation

What is Alienation? Alienation is a PS4 exclusive top-down shooter. You take on the role of a mercenary and beat up aliens. The game features a system of various levels and plenty of loot.
Why is the game worth it? Even today, despite its dated graphics, the game remains an entertaining title, especially with friends. Instead of playing alone, you can also dive into the battles with up to four players – a local coop is also possible.
You can choose from one of three classes that have unique abilities. As you progress through the game, you level up these classes. Additionally, you can collect equipment that can be upgraded with other items.
Also included is a drop-in multiplayer mode called “Invasions” where players can join other players’ matches. They can also turn against the host, much like in “Dark Souls.” Your teammates can backstab you if you’re not careful.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons

What is Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons? It is an action-adventure game. Two brothers travel through a mythologically inspired world to save their father.
Why is the game worth it? The style of control is still unique to this day. You control both brothers simultaneously, each with a stick and a shoulder button of the controller.
The control style is still a unique experience on the PS4, and the combination of gameplay with the soundtrack and the emotional story about the brothers makes it worth playing even today.

Magicka 2

What is Magicka 2? Magicka 2 is a chaotic co-op title where you play as a wizard chasing a vampire through a wacky story. The fantasy world called Midgård is heavily inspired by Norse mythology. The graphics are colorful and cheerful.
Why is the game worth it? In Magicka, you combine various types of magic into new spells; if you’re not careful, you might accidentally kill yourself or your teammates because friendly fire is always active here. Want to quickly try out a new spell or cross the energy with an ally? Your creativity is hardly limited, and should a teammate happen to perish, they can be brought back to life with the right spell.
Magicka relies on absurd humor and never takes itself seriously. If you can get into that and appreciate chaotic battles with friends, you’ll feel quite at home in the world of Magicka.

Helldivers

What is Helldivers? Helldivers is a top-down shoot’em up where you blast your way through a science fiction world inspired by aliens and Starship Troopers.
Why is the game worth it? Helldivers is most comparable to Alienation but leans heavily on humor. Players are members of the “Super-Earth,” which is governed by a directed democracy. As Helldivers, you fight aliens that threaten the Super-Earth. The satirical humor offers many jabs.
The battles are chaotic, and friendly fire is enabled, which quickly brings fun and chaos to cooperative fights. Before battles, you can equip yourself with weapons and other items that can be used in the fights.
If you happen to be playing alone and suddenly need help, you can send out a help signal to invite random teammates into your mission.

Destiny 2 – Forsaken

You can tackle raids and dungeons cooperatively, and if you find that too boring, you can dive into PvP. Collecting equipment keeps you occupied for a long time.

Why is the game worth it? The Banner Saga tells a gripping and atmospheric story over three games. The experience is paired with survival gameplay, making the game additionally challenging.
While the story is fundamentally linear, many events are influenced by the player’s decisions. If you choose a certain path at one point in the story, the other will be blocked for you – also a reason to play the game again later. The turn-based battles can be quite challenging, and the trilogy contains the entire story in one package.
