No idea what to do during the content drought of WoW? We have 7 things you should get done now – because later they will be significantly harder or even impossible.
Meanwhile, the players of World of Warcraft have fully entered the “content drought”. Until the Shadowlands expansion is released, there will be no new content, and there is little to do.
We have listed a number of game content items that you can or should pursue now. Some of these rewards will not be available in Shadowlands or will be associated with a massive additional effort. It would be wise to snatch these rewards before the next expansion starts.
1. Title “Servant of N’Zoth”
With each expansion, there are a few titles that are tied to the current content and can only be earned during that time. One of the possible titles is “Servant of N’Zoth” – undeniably one of the coolest titles in the game.
You can only obtain this title in War Mode in the areas of Battle for Azeroth, including the revamped zones Uldum and the Vale of Eternal Blossoms. To do this, you must become an assassin. This works by killing at least 10 players of the opposing faction. Once you are an assassin, there is a chance every few minutes that a special quest will pop up.
You will then receive an item (Ny’leth) that you must use to temporarily become a Servant of N’Zoth. During this time, you are hostile to all other players – except for other players who are also completing this quest. You now have one hour to kill 10 players of your own faction to complete the mission. If you succeed, you will be awarded the title “Servant of N’Zoth” alongside the corresponding achievement.
If this is too difficult to do “honestly”, you can simply ask two friends if they would voluntarily offer themselves as victims. Players that you kill have a debuff for 10 minutes that prevents them from serving as victims again. So you will need at least 2 players to kill 10 people within the 60-minute time limit.
Why should you do this now? Whether the title “Servant of N’Zoth” will still be available in Shadowlands is not entirely clear. However, the likelihood is high that the achievement will not be available then. Even if it is, it will be difficult to find enough players of your own faction in the “outdated” areas to complete the quest.
2. Title “The Faceless”
Another cool title is currently somewhat hidden in the game and is obtainable through the Horrific Visions. To complete the achievement “World of Madness”, you must complete all objectives in the Horrific Visions of Orgrimmar and Stormwind during a single visit without a group and with all 5 masks active.
This is still a bit tricky at first, but once your cloak reaches level 15, it should become significantly easier. With increasing gear and the ability to carry even more corrupted items, this challenge becomes easier over time.
By the way, you also earn the achievement “Through the Depths of Visions” and receive the mount “N’Zoth’s Black Serpent” while doing this. We have many tips and tricks about the Horrific Visions in our guide.
Why should you do this now? The achievement is a feat of strength, recognizing an exceptional achievement for which you had to work hard. In the past, Blizzard has removed many of these achievements retroactively or changed them in such a way that they no longer grant the associated title as a reward. If any achievement faces this fate, it is likely to be this one.
3. Mount Bruce from the Battle Guild
With Battle for Azeroth, a special quest line was introduced for the Battle Guild that ultimately rewards a special mount. If you want to ride Bruce yourself, you must complete this quest line. You can start the quest line as soon as you successfully complete your first fight in the Battle Guild.
However, some quest steps require multiple players – so it’s good to coordinate with your guild.

Why should you do this now? The battles of the Battle Guild are currently easier than ever. Thanks to the gear from current raids and dungeons, the fights are a walk in the park and can even be achieved by ignoring most mechanics.
It is crucial, however, that the Battle Guild traditionally closes at the start of a new expansion. Whether this mount will still be available with Shadowlands – or whether the Battle Guild will even open in Shadowlands – is still uncertain.
4. The two big raid mounts
Currently, there are two mounts with a special, unique appearance that you can earn from the raids of Battle for Azeroth.
- From “Lady Jaina Proudmoore” in the Battle of Dazar’Alor on Mythic drops the Glacial Tidesurge
- From “N’Zoth the Corruptor” in Ny’alotha on Mythic drops the Allseer of Ny’alotha
At least for N’Zoth, you need a very experienced group, but Jaina is now manageable with many random groups as many of her mechanics can simply be ignored or nearly skipped due to the high damage of players. However, you should still have a bit of understanding of the fight to not drag the rest of the group down.
Why should you do this now? Currently, both Jaina and N’Zoth drop their mount on mythic difficulty guaranteed – and that twice per raid group. Once Shadowlands is released and this content becomes irrelevant, Blizzard will massively lower the drop chance – usually to 1-3%. Then farming could take weeks, months, or even years.
5. The Auction House Dino
Since the launch of Battle for Azeroth, many players have set their sights on the Caravan Brutosaurus. With its cost of 5,000,000 gold, it is really only for auction house moguls, but many “normal players” have also set this goal.
No wonder, as the dino has a great appearance. It is not only one of the largest mounts but also has a vendor on one side and a permanent access to the auction house on the other side – accessible everywhere in the world, always available. This saves the trip to one of the capital cities when you want to buy or sell something.

If you wish, you can also temporarily throw off the vendors from the dino and let up to two other players ride along, making the dino a top mount for group activities.
Why should you do this now? With the launch of Shadowlands, the reins of the mighty Caravan Brutosaurus will no longer be sold by the vendors in Dazar’alor and Boralus. Instead, the mount will only be found very rarely in the black market auction house – probably at a price far exceeding 5,000,000 gold pieces.
6. Warfront Rewards
The warfronts in Battle for Azeroth may not have become the most popular feature, but they offer some interesting rewards. In addition to the great cosmetic sets, there are many rewards for the service medals. These include not only useful items like the XP potion for twinks, but also fancy mounts, toys, pets, or a ring that allows teleportation to Dazar’Alor or Boralus.
However, a large part of these rewards can only be obtained for service medals of the 7th Legion or the Covenant. These can be earned in limited amounts through world quests in Arathi Highlands and Darkshore, but in large quantities at the quests for the warfronts (up to 50 at the heroic Darkshore warfront).
If you do not have any of these rewards yet, you should start farming now, as the most expensive mount costs 750 medals alone.
Why should you do this now? Currently, warfronts are still “current” and thus meaningful content, making it easy to find groups. With the launch of Shadowlands, warfronts are likely to be forgotten and especially for the heroic variants, hardly any players will be found. Farming medals will then become significantly more difficult.
7. Leveling Twinks
Now is the perfect time to bring second characters in World of Warcraft to level 120 and prepare for Shadowlands. This is due to the fact that there is currently a fat XP boost active that increases gained experience by a whopping 100% and is stackable with other bonuses.
This makes it possible to reach the maximum level of 120 in under 24 hours of playtime – experienced players even achieve it in less than 13 hours.
Why should you do this now? With Shadowlands, there will be a “level squish” and the leveling time will be drastically reduced. It should then take 60-70% less time to level up. But this “bonus” is not as strong as the current one, as it speeds up leveling by 100%. Leveling up will rarely happen faster than it is now, and those who miss this opportunity are to blame – even if new players are currently overwhelmed by level 120.
What goals have you set for yourself during the content drought of Battle for Azeroth? What tasks are you pursuing before heading into the Shadowlands?
