Since the latest patch in The Division 2, agents have been complaining: there is hardly any ammunition left for their signature weapons. But this is not a hidden nerf, rather a bug. The team from The Division 2 says: We are looking into it.
What exactly is missing? Before the patch on Friday, there was regularly “signature ammunition.” This allows players to load and use the special weapons of their specialization:
- the Sharpshooter has a heavy sniper rifle
- the Demolitionist uses a grenade launcher, which is extremely popular and used to blow up groups
- and the Survivalist uses a precision crossbow
Before the update on Friday, there was plenty of ammunition. It dropped from defeated enemies and was easily recognizable in a rich orange color. But now The Division 2 is clearly being stingy with the coveted destruction materials.
- Some agents report that they are running team missions and can’t find any ammunition for their signature weapon at all. They say they’ve played for hours and found nothing.
- Other agents do find ammunition, but significantly less than before the update.
- Some are even saying: The ammunition for signature weapons in The Division 2 is now as rare as legendary drops in Anthem. – Harsh.
This is how players are reacting: On Reddit and elsewhere, people are wondering what happened here. After all, the signature weapons are an important part of The Division 2: In principle, one of the few gameplay elements that are truly new.
One does not understand what this is supposed to mean.
The lack of ammunition is practically a nerf, because the signature weapons can deal significant damage – particularly annoying because World Tier 5 is already tough, and one wishes for a bit more damage there.

So at this point, it seems clear that this is not a deliberate nerf, but rather a bug that has crept in.
We will probably soon be able to play with grenades, crossbows, and the heavy sniper rifle again.
Is there a solution? The site PC Gamer recommends as a workaround to switch specializations in the White House and then switch back. This should at least temporarily refill the ammunition.
At the moment, things are not going well in The Division 2 – the projects are also disabled. We will probably see a “hotfix” or a repair patch in the coming weeks. The update on Friday seems to have broken a lot.
