Due to a bug, the exotic weapon Jötunn in Destiny 2 is so overpowered that Bungie has disabled it for the Shadowkeep raid. What is going on?
This was the statement: On September 20th, Franchise Director Luke Smith spoke up on Twitter and announced that Bungie will disable the exotic weapon Jötunn for the Shadowkeep raid Garden of Salvation.
Why is Jötunn being disabled? Officially, it was stated that the team has identified an issue with Jötunn. They plan to bring a fix in a future update.
This step is reportedly due to a glitch that allows this exotic weapon to deal massive damage to bosses, taking them down in no time. If you get close to the respective end boss while using the weapon and take damage yourself, the damage output skyrockets.
The glitch or bug has apparently been in the game since January 2019, but oddly only gained widespread attention in recent days. The issue is present on Xbox One and PS4, but is particularly severe on PC, where the damage appears to be directly linked to the FPS. As a result, the damage there is significantly higher than on consoles.
This ultimately led to Bungie’s decision to remove the weapon from the game for the new raid. During the World First race for the first raid clear of Garden of Salvation, one could secure an unfair advantage with Jötunn.
The new raid starts on October 5th.
Why “Noob weapon”? Many Guardians refer to Jötunn as a “Noob weapon,” which is primarily due to PvP. Some players believe that no skill is required for kills with this weapon and even the biggest noob can achieve guaranteed kills with it.
The projectiles of the weapon have tracking and are lethal on a direct hit. An unsuspecting enemy can thus be taken out in the Crucible with just one shot, without the need for precise aiming.
How to get Jötunn: Jötunn is an exotic weapon from the Black Armory. You will need the Forsaken Annual Pass, which is now free for all Forsaken owners.
Jötunn itself can drop randomly from the Bergusia Forge when you complete a Powerful weapon frame from Ada-1 there.
