Just a few days ago, a group in WoW mastered the Court of Stars on the difficulty Mythic+25, setting a new world record. The same group is now stepping it up – with the stone that didn’t want to cooperate last time.
“The Dungeon of the Watchers”+26 – last week’s limit, this week’s new record
Mythic+ dungeons are, alongside raids, the most important comparison for PvE players. Those who clear the hardest dungeons the fastest lead the rankings. A well-assembled group progresses better than others.
A group has been drawing attention on the leaderboards for some time now. Shakib, Jdotb, Daarkee, Mittbitt, and Marvink have set a new world record with the completion of “The Court of Stars”+25 less than 2 weeks ago.
This week, they are raising the bar even higher. With “The Dungeon of the Watchers”+26 within time, these five players are setting a new milestone this time. Ironically, this is exactly the stone that the group received after upgrading during the last record.
If you take a closer look at the top spots on the list, you will often see the same names there. The guys have likely been deliberately working towards this success. However, it is also noticeable that significantly more groups are reaching +24 or +25 this week – both on the US and EU realms
This week is good for Mythic+ players – new records are likely!
The success of the groups can be roughly attributed to two reasons:
- Better gear
Since Antorus, the Burning Throne has been available for a few weeks now, significantly more players have their Tier-21 sets at least partially complete. As time goes on, artifact weapons and other gear continue to get stronger. Higher Mythic+ dungeons are simply becoming “easier” when you can still call it easy at this level…
- Easier affixes
This week, the affixes of the Mythic+ dungeons are particularly pleasant:
- Bloodied: Defeated enemies leave behind blood puddles that heal other enemies and damage players.
- Volcanic: Volcanoes appear beneath ranged players at regular intervals. If they erupt nearby, they deal significant damage to the player.
- Fortified: Normal enemies (“trash mobs”) have 20% more health and deal 30% more damage.
With this combination, most bosses cannot immediately kill players and fall quickly enough not to pose a blockade. Additionally, groups can pull enemies together since they do not buff each other or spread stacks of debuffs.
In general, Volcanic and Bloodied are perceived as some of the easiest affixes to handle. A bit of movement and good positioning of the tank is enough to withstand the dangers.
Benedict says: The fact that many groups are significantly making progress this week is no coincidence. It is likely that more records will be set this week that won’t be broken anytime soon.
