The planets in the online game No Man’s Sky are vast and full of resources, but your inventory is small. However, there are ways to expand it.
Collecting resources and objects is essential in No Man’s Sky. Not only do you need them to craft certain items or to recharge the life support systems of the spacesuit, the multitool, or the ship’s drive, but you can also trade with the raw materials. This helps you earn money, which you can use to buy items that you cannot quickly find or craft yourself. At the beginning of the game, the inventory slots are very limited, forcing you to trade more often with aliens at landings or at the marketplace on space stations.
More Space in the Spaceship
Fortunately, you have two inventories – one in your spacesuit and the other in the spaceship. However, you will quickly run out of space. If you want to give your ship more cargo space, you need to buy another ship that has more inventory slots. New spaceships are expensive, and you won’t always be able to buy one, as you first need to increase your reputation with the respective alien race. You can make an offer for the ship to any alien you meet along the way, but whether they accept it depends on how well you are regarded by their race and what you can pay.
More Space in the Exosuit
Especially regarding the Exosuit inventory, you need a lot of space. Because during your wanderings on planets, you need to ensure that you gather enough isotopes to keep your multitool and life support systems charged. Additionally, you will likely want to gather more raw materials and items. To create more space in the Exosuit, look for Drop Pods that you can find on planets. These small landing units provide you with an option to upgrade your spacesuit. You can identify Drop Pods by the orange beam they shoot into the sky. They will be displayed on the scanner as “Shelter”.
Finding a Drop Pod is not particularly easy, as you will also see other shelters, such as abandoned buildings, on the scanner, and you can never be sure if a Drop Pod is located there. Additionally, you can buy crafting recipes for a larger inventory from aliens at space stations. However, these merchants are “hiding” behind the locked doors that you can only open with an Atlas Pass. So there are ways to increase your inventory, but it is not easy.
