In No Man’s Sky, a mod has been developed that lifts the annoying planet safety distance during flight.
To ensure that researchers do not hopelessly get stuck in rock walls or have catastrophic crashes every few meters on their flights over planets, the ship is – usually reliably – kept at a certain distance above the planet’s surface. You can’t fly lower.
However, some players feel strongly restricted by this safety measure. After all, in No Man’s Sky, one is supposed to be able to make limitless, unrestricted discoveries. If you can’t even get close enough with the ship to take a good look at the true beauty of a planet’s surface, it leads to frustration.
Therefore, “Hytek” developed a Lowflight mod, which allows you to conduct low flights – and see exactly what is going on on the planet. But beware: This could also easily lead to crashing. So it might not be a bad idea to save the game before using the mod. Here you can see the mod in action:
