The sandbox space game No Man’s Sky has allowed housing and base building for some time now. Since then, players have discovered all sorts of quirky structures in space, including a futuristic McDonald’s!
No Man’s Sky allows the exploration of countless procedurally generated worlds in the universe. Recently, you can also build houses and bases in the space sandbox. These can then be discovered by other players.
How much effort and attention to detail some players put in is shown by a replica of a McDonald’s at the end of the universe.
No Man’s Sky – A futuristic McDonald’s as a base
On a distant planet at the end of the universe, there stands a lonely McDonald’s. Those who discover the burger joint can inquire about the menu from a strange alien at the entrance and then inspect the premises. Everything has been thought of: There are storage rooms with frozen burgers, a frying and grilling area, and of course a guest area with stylish chairs and tables.
Furthermore, it seems that the entire planet has been taken over by the corporate identity of McDonald’s, as even the animals in the world have names like “Ronald McDonald”, the famous mascot of the fast-food chain! You can find a video of the Space McDonald’s embedded here. The exploration of the restaurant itself begins at around 4 minutes.
What do you think of the housing feature in No Man’s Sky? Have you built or discovered bases like the one shown here? And do you find the representation of fast-food chains in a game appropriate or rather inappropriate? Let us know in the comments!
