No Man’s Sky: Resource Guide – How to collect Heridium, Zinc and Co.

The highly anticipated online game No Man’s Sky is starting and you will finally be able to explore a vast universe. One of the first questions will be: How do I get resources like Heredium or Zinc?

In the game, gathering resources is also on the agenda. Without mining them, you won’t get very far in the game. If you find an object, like a rock or a tree, you can extract a resource like iron or carbon from it. Resources, in turn, are divided into chemical elements that serve different purposes. Isotopes, for example, are needed for fuel, silicates for crafting upgrades.

How to get resources

You start in No Man’s Sky with just a few resources, but there are plenty of resources on the starting planet. You should definitely mine these! To do this, you go on an exploration tour and look around in the landscape. If you discover something that is blinking, it should catch your attention, as it is usually a resource that you can mine with the multi-tool you carry. To do this, aim and fire the tool at the object. Depending on its size, it may take a little time to get the resources from it.

If you find a rock, for example, you mine iron and also receive oxides. You need these for constructing and loading defense technologies. In other words, you will then make plates from the iron to armor your spaceship.

Many worlds, many resources

Mined resources go directly into your inventory. Crafting also takes place in the inventory. On an empty slot, you can create the object displayed there – provided you have the necessary resources in the required amount. If your ship needs four armor plates, they will occupy four slots in the inventory. You then click on “Create product” there, select the plate, and if you have collected the necessary resources, it will be produced.

Diverse objects yield you different resources. Sometimes you only have to stand next to a plant and simply choose “collect” to receive the resources “within it”; sometimes you have to fire your multi-tool at a monolith for a long time to obtain very rare resources. Not every resource is present on every planet. Therefore, you explore space to discover worlds where you can find new and rare resources. Some substances like Emeril you trade at space stations for money, others like Heredium you need to operate your ship’s pulse drive.

Be sure to collect 25 carbon (from organic objects like plants) and 20 iron (from ore) right at the beginning. This way, you can activate your scanner and analysis visor, which makes it easier for you to recognize objects. This should make collecting resources easier.

How to quickly get Iridium

YouTuber Spartan Sarge reveals a farming method for quickly obtaining the resource Iridium. For this, you go into the depths of space and look out for larger asteroids. You destroy these with your spaceship’s weapon and watch as the Iridium gushes into your inventory.
