The open-world space game No Man’s Sky is getting a major update this month. A new trailer has now been released, showcasing some of the planned innovations.
What does the trailer show? In the almost two minutes of the launch trailer for the new update “Beyond”, we experience new areas from the perspective of a player character who walks through and explores them.
New locations, buildings, as well as new flora and fauna are presented. Throughout the trailer, images of additional content and new creatures are displayed.
Interested fans have found some content in the trailer that they are particularly looking forward to. Here is the trailer:
No Man’s Sky gets mounts!
What is the most interesting new feature? Throughout the trailer, we can repeatedly see NPCs and player characters riding on an animal.
The type of animal seems to be irrelevant. Almost every creature that could be large enough to be used as a mount has a character sitting on it.
So far, however, it is still unclear how to learn riding or whether there could even be flying mounts. These questions will likely only be answered with the release of the major multiplayer update “Beyond” on August 14.
What else have players discovered? Besides mounts, adjusted player models, and new spaceships, a multiplayer hub has also come into the fans’ sights.
The entrance to the hub can be seen at minute 1:01 in the trailer, and the interior and exit from 1:31. Players suspect that the already existing anomaly could be converted into a meeting point with the patch.
Update: From an article by PCGamer, we now know that up to 32 players can meet in a session. Additionally, animals might not only be ridable but also able to be milked.
VR as another highlight of the update
What else does the update include? Besides gameplay updates, VR is to be the main focus of the new patch “Beyond”. It is expected to be playable via Steam VR and Playstation VR.
Apparently, the sizes of spaceships and especially trees have been adjusted. The fans, who support their game and the developers with much love, have immediately noticed these adjustments.
How big is the new update? According to statements from the developer Hello Games, the new patch will be the largest ever for No Man’s Sky. The developers have been working on “Beyond” for over 12 months, which was originally intended to be released in three separate parts.
