In the space simulation No Man’s Sky, the launch numbers can be seen on PC: Over 200,000 players played it simultaneously.
The launch of No Man’s Sky on PC did not go smoothly: First, PC users were frustrated as they had to wait two days longer than PS4 players to start, and when the kick-off to the limitless galaxy began, curious explorers were plagued by numerous problems.
This quickly led to reports of game crashes, FPS drops, and other performance issues. It simply wasn’t running smoothly. Shortly thereafter, the first patch was released, but there are still user reports complaining about annoyances.
However, these teething problems did not hold back the launch success of No Man’s Sky: Over 200,000 people played the game simultaneously on launch day. Now the large English-language site PC Gamer has analyzed the numbers and concluded that this is by far the largest Steam launch of the year.
The interest in No Man’s Sky is enormous
According to the site, the peak on that day was 212,620 players exploring No Man’s Sky at the same time. This is 46% more players than all other games this year.
For comparison:
- XCOM 2 133,022
- Dark Souls 3 129,975
- Total War: Warhammer 113,019
This shows: The curiosity and interest in No Man’s Sky are high. Players want to see for themselves if such a gigantic game is worthwhile. According to Metacritic, however, not everyone is thrilled with No Man’s Sky.
