On August 14, the major patch Beyond was released for the space game No Man’s Sky. However, there were delays in the PC version at release and also many bugs and crashes.
What were the biggest issues of the update? In our comments on the release of the Beyond update, many players reported crashes of the game shortly after the release. It did not matter whether No Man’s Sky was played on PC, PS4, or Xbox One.
Besides the crashes, there were also performance issues, particularly concerning the new VR mode, which was introduced with Beyond.
The discussion thread about the update’s bugs on reddit has more than 3,000 comments at the time of this article’s writing. Here, too, the crashes of the space game are at the forefront, although many other small errors were also reported.
Delay in PC release: While the major Beyond update was released between 12:30 PM and 2:00 PM for the two consoles PS4 and Xbox One, PC players had to wait surprisingly long.
It wasn’t until around 7:00 PM that fans could dive into the revised world of No Man’s Sky, provided they were spared from crashes.
The first hotfixes are already here
How did the developers respond? Via Twitter, the developers announced early on that work was being done on updates for bug fixing. At 2:51 AM, they stated in a tweet that a first hotfix for the PC version was about to be released.
Just under two hours later, another tweet was released with information about a second update for the PC. Both updates are also expected on consoles due to delays from Sony and Microsoft.
What is the current status? Even now, it seems that not all issues have been resolved – neither on PC nor on consoles.
Reports of crashes and performance issues are continuing to come in regularly on reddit.
How are players reacting to the issues? Players’ reactions vary greatly. Many remain calm and respond with the classic saying: “Never play on Patch Day.”
They are very grateful to the developers of No Man’s Sky for releasing such a large update without any additional costs.
However, there are also players who are disappointed and complain about the poor work from Hello Games. They are, however, in the minority on Steam, where there have been more positive than negative reviews since the update, and also on reddit.
The fact that the fans of No Man’s Sky really like the game has already been shown by this great action:
