Since the big Beyond update, you can ride and even milk animals in the space game No Man’s Sky. However, you need to get along well with them. This little guide is all about the fauna of the game.
What’s new in No Man’s Sky? Since the big Beyond update, where the space game gained VR support among other things, you can not only recruit animals as companions, but also ride or milk them.
Although the release of the patch was somewhat chaotic, the new features regarding the fauna of the game are popular.
What are the requirements for riding and milking? Before you can start thinking about which animals to use for your adventures, you need to invest at least a few hours in No Man’s Sky.
In order to feed the animals the right food, you will need the Nutrient Processor. You can find the blueprint for it in the Anomaly, but it is not located in the classic technology tree.
You can find the blueprint near Polo and Nada in the Base Research Terminal. It costs 10 Salvaged Data.
The Nutrient Processor itself costs then in production:
- 2x Metal Plates
- 1x Hermetic Seal
- 25x Sodium
You will reach the Anomaly after the first warp jumps. However, the game leads you there relatively linearly and quickly.
Taming Animals Made Easy
How do I gain the animals’ trust? In the first step, you should scan the corresponding animal you want to milk or ride. The scan will tell you which food the respective animal prefers.
If the animal cannot be scanned, you can use a bait made of Carbon to start feeding it.
In the next step, you then need to craft the correct food to fully familiarize the animal with you.
What can the animals do? After the first feeding, the animals are favorably inclined towards you. They are likely to leave behind a pile after eating, which you can then collect as material.
As you get to know them, you can actively tame them. Afterwards, the animals will find valuable materials for you, defend you against attackers, or can be ridden and milked.
How long does the friendship last? Unfortunately, the tamed animals cannot be taken to other planets. So if you change location, you will have to find new companions again.
