The players of the open-world game No Man’s Sky have come up with a great idea: They raised money to book a billboard near the studio Hello Games to thank the developers.
What action is it about? The user weedwhizard launched a nice initiative in the NMS subreddit: He wanted to thank the developers of No Man’s Sky, Hello Games, for continuously working on the game and permanently expanding and improving it.
For this, he set up a crowdfunding page. For 1,750 US dollars, a billboard near the developer studio should be booked, and the employees should be provided with beer and burgers.
From the planned 1,750 $, over 2,500 $ in donations were raised – and that in less than a day. Currently, the donation counter stands at over 2,900 US dollars.

Why was the game criticized? Upon release in August 2016, No Man’s Sky was rather mediocre because some features that were hinted at or promised were missing. Due to the criticism, the developers went back to the drawing board and released the Foundation Update in November 2016, which brought some improvements to the game.
From then on, things improved steadily: Hello Games regularly releases updates and patches to expand No Man’s Sky.
The next update is just around the corner: Beyond is set to bring some MMO features.
What does Hello Games say? The studio itself has also caught wind of the players’ billboard action. One of the founders of Hello Games, Sean Murray, commented on Twitter about the community’s plans.
“Our community has bought the billboard near our office to say thank you. Oh. My. God.”
Under Murray’s post, players joked further that they would buy the English town of Guildford, where the developer studio is located, and rename it to “Hello”.
