A trailer has been released for the upcoming space simulation No Man’s Sky, which shows the combat in the seemingly infinite galaxy.
What exactly do you actually do in No Man’s Sky? The developers are gradually answering this question with short trailers that introduce the “four pillars” on which the game is based: Exploration, Combat, Survival, and Trade.
Last week, the trailer for Exploration in No Man’s Sky was presented. Now, the focus is on combat, which spans from foot battles to large-scale spaceship battles.
The Dangers of the Galaxy
On your journey through the gigantic galaxy, you will zip through solar systems teeming with creatures. However, not all of them are friendly.
In space, ships from “pirates” roam, heavily armed. If you do not avoid them, you will have to prepare for a battle. Additionally, you should be cautious on planets, as aggressive creatures may be lurking for you. With a weapon in hand, you can fight for your survival.
On the other hand, there are also “Sentinels” in No Man’s Sky who want to maintain the natural order. They are referred to as “guardians of peace” and can be found on planets and in the emptiness of space. However, they react to anyone who disturbs their sacred balance – including you if you display hostile behavior.
You will receive a “wanted level” if you behave aggressively towards native wildlife or harvest too many resources from a planet. The higher your wanted level, the stronger the Sentinels that hunt you. This can escalate to massive combat walkers and enormous landing ships.
Defend Yourself with Ship and Multi-Tool
You won’t survive out there with just your bare hands. Therefore, a multi-tool is always at your disposal, which can be used in various ways. You can use it to gather resources or as a weapon, and you can strengthen and upgrade the tool over time. With the right technology, you can take on anything that encounters you in the galaxy.
Your ship is also of great importance for exploration and combat: With various technologies, you can customize the intergalactic vehicle to your playstyle: Equip it with powerful lasers or an improved engine. Increase your chances in combat by strengthening the ship’s weapons and defense.
