The founder of Hello Games, Sean Murray, recommends the following 5 things to keep in mind as you start your journey in No Man’s Sky.

So you won’t get lost right away in the seemingly boundless vastness of space at your start, Sean Murray gives you five recommendations. This should give beginner explorers better chances of survival. We present them in the following guide.

1. Repair Your Ship

You begin your journey on an alien planet – with each of you “waking up” on a different planet. You will see a destroyed ship that is right next to you. Your first task will be to get this ship running so you can visit other planets.

For this, you need to gather resources – you already have your multi-tool for that – craft technologies and combine various elements. This way you create the items you need to repair the ship.

2. Make Sure You Can Survive

Many planets are inhabited by hostile creatures. If you just wander around, you will quickly bite the dust – or whatever vegetation you find on the planet. Additionally, some climate conditions are extremely hostile to life. Therefore, enhance your suit with resources. It may also be that you start on such a planet. Then your life will be “a bit harder”.

3. Upload Your Experiences

According to Murray, players should not forget to upload their experiences on their first planet. One is so focused on repairing the ship and finally being able to explore space that one might forget the upload.

Here he adds that in the beginning there is no rush. You can leisurely explore the first planet. You still have enough time to travel the universe.

4. Visit Other Planets

During the beginning, you are not yet able to make interstellar journeys. You still lack the technologies for that. You first need a “hyperdrive” engine to overcome extreme distances. Therefore, you want to visit other planets and space stations to find what you’re looking for. By the way, you also need fuel for the “hyperdrive” technology, which you have to craft.

5. Explore the Entire Universe

Murray’s last tip is simply this: as soon as you can travel long distances, do so. He has seen people stay over 10 hours in the first solar system. Be brave and venture far out.
