In WoW: Shadowlands, many players are looking for the popular bonus rolls. But are they still available? Or is there a replacement?
The first season of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands has begun. This comes with the opening of the Castle Nathria raid and the appearance of powerful world bosses. A question many players ask is: Are there bonus rolls again? Because they are hard to find in Shadowlands. The sobering answer: No, there aren’t. Instead, there is another system.
What are bonus rolls? Bonus rolls have been around since the “Mists of Pandaria” expansion. Players could earn bonus coins, which they could use on a limited number of bosses each week. If they wanted a specific loot item, they could use a bonus coin to roll for loot again. It wasn’t guaranteed that they would get loot – often there was only gold or artifact power – but it was at least another chance.
Why is there none in Shadowlands? In Shadowlands, there are no bonus rolls. The developers have drastically reduced the amount of loot given out. Loot should feel more significant again and items should gain more value. Therefore, the issuance of loot has been restricted – there are therefore fewer new items.
What is there instead? The bonus roll is basically integrated into the Great Vault in Shadowlands. From this vault, you can choose one item from several options once a week. How many options are available depends on the content completed in the previous week. Those who have defeated all 10 bosses in Castle Nathria – which should be doable after the nerf – can choose from up to three options. The number increases further if you try PvP or mythic dungeons.
Since the Great Vault contains loot from the bosses you’ve defeated in the raid, it essentially fully replaces the bonus rolls.
