Chance “Sodapoppin” Morris is currently the largest streamer on Twitch. This is due to his elite guild in WoW, OnlyFangs, but he had to take strong action: He kicked out the popular streamer Pirate Software. The former Blizzard developer failed as a mage because he panicked.
What happened? The guild OnlyFangs plays WoW on a Classic Hardcore server. If you die here, your character is gone.
Pirate Software was in a group in the dungeon “Dire Maul” when a pull went wrong: More enemies than planned arrived. When the pull goes wrong, Pirate Software, who is playing as a mage, retreats first and takes flight.
While the other four players are still trying to stop and defeat the enemies, Pirate Software brings himself to safety and says he has too little mana to help at all. In retrospect, it is pointed out to him that he could have solved the mana problem himself.
Pirate Software runs away and lets party members die
What is the problem? This fleeing is known as “making the Roach” – fleeing and leaving your friends behind. The teammates urge him to come back and help, but Pirate Software is already gone.
Ultimately, two guild members from OnlyFangs died in the action: Snupy and Sara, tank and healer in that situation.
In a discussion about what exactly went wrong, Pirate Software simply leaves the conversation.
This was the discussion: In the following days, there was a controversial discussion about the failed pull and especially about the behavior of Pirate Software:
Some defended Pirate Software. It wasn’t his fault that the others died; he had still cast the Blizzard spell. What could he do if the druid decided to tank again instead of fleeing consistently? Others found his behavior selfish and cowardly.
One user on Reddit says: Pirate Software is actually a decent guy, but he never admits his own mistakes and loves to bask in his knowledge and abilities. At that point, it’s necessary to admit one’s own mistakes. With his behavior, he is alienating some fans.
They don’t expect much from him, just to take responsibility.
Even when he was directly asked by the rogue player to admit his mistakes, Pirate Software blocked it and confirmed his position. At that moment, he seemed tired of the discussion and considered the case settled.
This was actually the behavior that led to Pirate Software’s downfall:
Pirate Software feels unjustly accused, sees witch hunt
This is what Pirate Software himself says: The streamer said on X on January 13, that everyone played wrong and made mistakes in that situation – including him. He never claimed to be a “godgamer”; he is just a former Blizzard developer who played as a mage for years.
It’s nonsense to pin this action solely on him and that he should be attacked like this. When people demand to cancel him, that is very unhealthy behavior; people are living too much through their favorite creator.
He says: Don’t worry, this will also pass.
Sodapoppin passes judgment
This is now his kick: The guild leader of OnlyFangs, Sodapoppin, has now kicked Pirate Software out of the guild. He seems to lack the insight that he messed up. Instead, he would still reinforce his position in some clips.
Sodapoppin says: Many in the guild now feel uncomfortable playing with Pirate Software when he causes so much drama. Sodapoppin thinks that by kicking him out now, he is making the right decision, even though it still feels bad. But he hopes that the whole story is now concluded.
In a statement on Twitch, Sodapoppin says: Pirate Software could have saved the two players if he had played the mage reasonably. However, he panicked and then refused to take responsibility for his actions. That’s all.
Sodapoppin probably has more sympathy for the victims in this situation because he himself lost his character. His current position as No. 1 on Twitch is also due to the fact that he played WoW like crazy last week to level up to 60 again and lead the guild again: Leader of the elite Twitch guild dies stupidly in WoW and is like petrified
