Nintendo has announced the first DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. However, players are not happy with this, as the main game has not been released yet. The viewers consider this to be the wrong decision.
What has Nintendo done? Nintendo has announced the first DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The DLC is called Mega Dimension and is supposed to be available for both the Switch and the Switch 2. A release date has not yet been announced.
However, many players are complaining. Because Pokémon Legends: Z-A will not be released until October 16, 2025, and players are grumbling: How can they announce a DLC for a game that hasn’t even been released yet?
Players complain: “Announcing a DLC for an unreleased game is crazy.”
What is going on in the community? Under the official YouTube video of the NintendoDirect, the viewers are going wild. Some are complaining:
- “The announcement of DLC for a game that has not yet been released is crazy.”
- “The so early announcement of DLC for Pokémon ZA is crazy.”
- “The announcement of paid DLC before the game’s release is shameless.”
What is the problem? Generally, developers introduce a new game. After the release, they then explain how development will proceed and whether more content will be released for free or for a fee.
Nintendo is taking a different approach here: Instead of first releasing the game and then introducing a season pass afterwards, as has been done with the current generation, Scarlet and Violet, they have already presented the first DLC before the release.
The problem: For many viewers, it seems like the developers would rather invest their time in a new DLC instead of finishing the actual game. Whether Nintendo might be assigning a separate team for the DLC is not known.
The fact that this is paid DLC also leaves a bad taste in the mouth: even before the game has been released, potential players are being asked to pay up again.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A has now had its first major public appearance at the Pokémon World Championships 2025. Players were able to test the new battle system in a demo and report how they perceived the changes: The new battle system in Pokémon Legends Z-A is so different that some first testers are overwhelmed
