A new Zelda game titled The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is set to be released in 2024, breaking with the gameplay principles of the series.
What kind of game is this? On June 18, 2024, Nintendo announced a new game in the beloved Zelda series: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
Unlike in previous main games of the Zelda series, you won’t take on the role of the brave hero Link, who rescues the missing Princess Zelda. Instead, you will play as Princess Zelda, who is searching for the disappeared Link.
Strange fissures appearing throughout the kingdom are responsible for the disappearance of Link and the other inhabitants of Hyrule.
When is the new Zelda coming? The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is expected to be released later this year, with the release date planned for September 26, 2024.
What makes the new Zelda special? As Eiji Aonuma, the producer of the Zelda games, revealed, Echoes of Wisdom breaks with the previous gameplay principles of the series. You will not be wandering through the game world with sword and shield, but will receive a so-called Tri-Stick from a fairy named “Tri,” which allows you to create echoes.
Echoes are imitations of objects you find in your surroundings. For example, you can create a copy of a chair to climb on it to overcome an obstacle. You can also create echoes of stones and throw them at enemies or copy monsters that will then fight alongside you.
Solving puzzles using the Tri-Stick is an important part of Echoes of Wisdom – whether you are building bridges, throwing stones, or using the stick to reach higher areas.
Perhaps Nintendo can celebrate a smooth Zelda release with Echoes of Wisdom. At the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, there was a leak of the game, which was even playable on PC via emulators. One of those emulators was sued by Nintendo in February 2024: Nintendo sues emulator for Switch games – Wants money for what they did to Zelda
