Santo Domingo is not only one of the oldest places in Night City but also one of the most unremarkable. In the shadow of the megabuildings and industrial sites of the megacorporations, Santo Domingo appears to be the city’s dump that has simply been built over the living space of the people.
This place makes you sick. Literally. The factories of the corporations are polluting the air and poisoning the water so that the remaining residents, who cannot leave due to lack of resources and employment-related illnesses, will not lead long lives. It is a vicious cycle that stretches across generations.
In a conversation with the fixer Muamar “El Capitan” Reyes, you learn that the greatest fear of the inhabitants lies precisely in the things they so desperately need to survive. The drinking water is so contaminated that even children from Santo Domingo develop diseases that should only appear much later in old age.
Anyone who has to live in Santo Domingo has not drawn a good lot here. And despite all that, there is another place in Night City that is even worse than this evil. That sounds optimistic. It is.
