Streamer Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff received his first ban from Twitch. He was banned for using a transphobic slur. In his comment on the stream, he even doubles down. Apparently, his career on Twitch is not that important to him anymore since he signed a million-dollar contract with Kick.
This is what the streamer says about his ban: Nickmercs tweeted on June 28 (via kotaku):
I was banned from Twitch for using the word “Tranny.” It is allegedly a derogatory term. That was my mistake. Next time I will talk about mental illness.
How long the ban lasts is not known. Twitch is not as crucial for Nickmercs anymore as it used to be since he has been regularly streaming on the competing platform Kick, where he signed a one-year deal at the end of 2023 that allegedly guarantees him $10 million (via sbj).
The tweet has since been deleted after receiving mostly negative reactions.
Nickmercs’s remark indicates that he has used the term in a clearly derogatory way.

Here’s the backstory: Nickmercs had actually not been negatively spotlighted for years, but in June 2023, during Pride Month, he made derogatory comments about a pro-LGBTQ demonstration in front of a school.
He said they should “leave little children alone.” He meant that the state should not confront children with topics in the realm of “LGBTQ,” and that it should be left to the parents.
His statement “leave little children alone” led to Activision Blizzard distancing itself from him and removing a skin pack from Call of Duty. At the time, Nickmercs was the leading streamer for CoD Warzone.
This exclusion from Call of Duty seems to have led, as streamer Asmongold suspects, to Nickmercs increasingly radicalizing and now making deliberately and more extreme transphobic remarks for Pride Month 2024, than a year ago.
While his original statements, that confronting children with “LGBTQ” should be left to the parents, were controversial but shared by many, he now receives much public rejection for his newer, extreme statements on the topic.
What was known last about Nickmercs? Nickmercs initially showed solidarity with DrDisrespect and supported him against accusations.
