A new rift has appeared in Fortnite . In Season 10, a new rift means a change to the map. The next update is likely to affect Fatal Fields.
Where does the rift appear? A rift and a machine appeared in the middle of Fatal Fields, similar to what we saw at Neo Tilted and Retail Row.
It seems that we might be able to expect changes as early as tomorrow, September 3, or at the latest Thursday, in the new update.
New Rift in Fortnite – Is the floating island returning?
What could the rift cause? So far, rifts have always brought back old areas. For example, Dusty Depot returned and Neo Tilted became Tilted Town, an old western town. Retail Row became a zombie town.
However, Fatal Fields has never been changed, so there is no way to bring back an old location. Is the floating island returning now?
A few dataminers leaked the limited-time challenges for next week, and one of the challenges is “Visit a floating island and a meteor” (via @Lucas7yoshi).
Additionally, the loading screen for next week was found, showing a floating island over Fatal Fields. You get the loading screen when you have completed 3 weekly limited-time challenges.

What’s the story with the floating island? The floating island is known to most of you from Seasons 5 and 6. It started in Season 5 with the cube that the community calls Kevin.
A large cube that wandered through the map until it sunk into Loot Lake. After that, it rose into the air along with the island. Thus, the floating island was created, which moved throughout the map. It is set to return over Fatal Fields.
When will there be more info? In the past, whenever a new rift appeared, one could expect changes with the next update.
So, with the next update that is supposed to come between Tuesday and Thursday, one can expect to discover the new rift zone.
What do you think? Would you be happy to visit the floating island again?
