Sony regularly hosts an event centered around the PS4 and PS5. According to rumors, the next “State of Play” is expected in February. Many are now hoping for further information on a Harry Potter game, of which hardly anything is known.
What kind of event is this? Sony periodically holds an event called “State of Play”. This is usually a stream lasting about half an hour where new games for the PS4 and PS5 are introduced. Sony’s last event took place in October 2021.
Supposedly, the next PS5 event is scheduled for February 2022. This was recently posted by well-known journalist Tom Henderson on Twitter (via Twitter.com). In addition to Henderson, others also assume that the next event could take place in February. Because in 2021, a “State of Play took place in February as well (via blog.playstation.com). Similarly, in 2019 and 2020, a PlayStation event also occurred in February.
The rumors for the event are therefore based on past events and do not come from Sony or an employee who provided the information to Henderson. There is also no official statement or announcement from Sony yet.
The current rumors suggest that the next Sony event could take place in February, based on the media events in this month and past PlayStation dates. It will likely be the State of Play, but it has the potential to be quite significant, in my opinion.

The next PS5 event could showcase a multitude of games that many users are waiting for
What could we see? Since this will officially be the first “State of Play” of 2022, many users assume that Sony will showcase some exciting games.
Currently, there are three major games that fans are eagerly awaiting:
- God of War Ragnarök was introduced last year and is supposed to be released in 2022 according to Sony (via playstation.com). Therefore, it is quite likely that Sony could show some more gameplay here.
- Final Fantasy XVI is also highly anticipated by many users, as Sony announced the game as time-exclusive for the PS5. However, there is no release date yet, but at least gameplay.
- The third candidate is Hogwarts: Legacy, a game that many users are waiting for. There has been no gameplay revealed so far, and the developers have postponed the game to 2022. The developers themselves are also promising a release in 2022 (via hogartslegacy.com)
The Hogwarts game could be the big surprise of the next State of Play
What kind of game is this? There has been hardly any real gameplay of Hogwarts: Legacy, and not much is known otherwise. So far, we know that it will be an open-world role-playing game whose story is set in the 19th century.
The developers will also deliver something new in terms of the story, as the game is based on the world of J. K. Rowling, but she is not involved. The player’s character will then have a typical school life at Hogwarts School.
Why is the game expected to be interesting? Due to this information and gameplay drought, many users are hoping that Sony will reveal more information about the Harry Potter game at the upcoming “State of Play” event. Especially with Henderson’s hint that the upcoming “State of Play” has the potential to be quite significant, users are looking forward to new information.
