RISE is a new MMORPG developed by the Korean studio NXN. It features a dark setting reminiscent of The Witcher. It is specifically aimed at a Western audience and will be released for PC, consoles, and mobile.
What kind of game is this? RISE, not to be confused with Rise Online, will be a new next-gen MMORPG built on Unreal Engine, focusing heavily on realism. The characters will utilize motion capturing, as emphasized by the developer NXN on their website.
We already know from a Prologue trailer that the story will play an important role. However, a new trailer with gameplay content (from second 47) now shows action-packed battles, jumps, stealthing, and running along narrow ledges.
Furthermore, the trailer gives another impression of the dark setting in which RISE takes place. The shown character is depicted as a lonely traveler with a horse. This strongly reminds one of The Witcher, similar to how the new MMORPG Crimson Desert flirts with Game of Thrones.
When will the game be released? RISE is expected to be released in Korea as early as 2021. When exactly the worldwide release will take place is not known yet.
However, the developers have already emphasized that it is being developed for Western players. So there is hope for a timely release.
An MMORPG full of emotions and story
What content does RISE offer? The new MMORPG will focus on the story. It should feel realistic and evoke many emotions in players.
We already know the following about the content:
- Groups in RISE will consist of 5 players
- At the same time, there will be large battles with many players
- The MMORPG will include some RTS elements
- There will be PvP with the aim of becoming big in eSports
There are currently no more detailed details about the content. Nevertheless, many aspects sound promising, such as the setting, the realism, and entering eSports. The latter at least increases the chance that the game will have a fair shop without Pay2Win.
RISE is still relatively unknown in the West. However, alongside this MMORPG, several others are in development. You can find the most promising ones here:
