Recently, the first gameplay of Godfall was leaked, which many thought came from the PlayStation 5. Now the developers have explained what we actually saw.
What is Godfall, anyway? Godfall is an action RPG and the first officially confirmed game for Sony’s upcoming next-gen console PlayStation 5. It is currently still in development and is set to be released on both the PS5 and PC.

What is the leak about? Recently, the first gameplay (7 seconds) of Godfall was leaked on Reddit, followed by a whole trailer. And it sparked quite a bit of discussion.
Many assumed that it was the first gameplay footage from the PS5, showing what the first next-gen game for the new PlayStation currently looks like.
Some even praised the effects, stating that they looked so convincing. However, as it turns out, the leaked footage did not come from the PlayStation 5 at all.
What was the gameplay like? The developers of Godfall have now spoken out about this matter through their official Twitter account.
They stated that the leaked trailer was a recording made about a year ago on PC and was used as part of an internal presentation.
Even the CEO of the Godfall publisher Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, commented on Twitter. He also confirmed that it is indeed an old internal PC trailer and emphasized that he was overwhelmed by the positive reactions.
He can hardly wait for us to see how far the game has come and how good it looks and plays on the PlayStation 5.
What does this mean for Godfall? The footage definitely did not come from the PlayStation 5. Therefore, no conclusions can be drawn about the performance or visual quality of Sony’s next-gen console from the leak – even though some Reddit users had hoped for it.
According to Pitchford’s statement, it shouldn’t be long before we finally see some first footage from the PS5.
Even if Sony will not be present at E3 2020 – leaks suggest a PS5 reveal event in February 2020. There might be some first meaningful next-gen gameplay that many are eagerly waiting for.
What do you think? When will we see the first next-gen gameplay from the PS5?
