In autumn, the beta phase of the upcoming RPG shooter The First Descendant by Nexon Games will run on Steam. The developer studio provides information about the focus of the sci-fi game and what gameplay elements we can expect.
What kind of game will The First Descendant be? The First Descendant was previously known under the working title “Project Magnum” by publisher Nexon. However, the official name has now been released, along with the start of the game testing phase.
The game will be described on Steam:
- The player takes on the role of a Descendant, who possesses specific abilities and can be modified with skins.
- The game promises a lot of action and exciting battles.
- You will need to work as a team and fight against massive boss monsters.
- Above all, the fight against an invasion to preserve humanity will take place. Additionally, the “Ingris continent” must be protected.
- In the end, it’s about uncovering the secret of the Descendants.
- The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and looks like a prettier Outriders.
The First Descendant will be a free-to-play game with a sci-fi look. It is a third-person shooter and RPG with co-op elements.

What do we know about the characters? There will be a selection of different characters, each with their own combat styles. Several elements are planned, such as skins, with which players can further customize their figures. These elements are intended to cosmetically change the character.
What does Nexon say about the battles? Players will have some freedom in choosing a combat style due to the different abilities of the characters during battles. Additionally, gameplay will be enriched with items like grappling hooks or firearms.
How are the boss monster battles designed? Huge boss monsters can be fought in co-op gameplay with a total of 4 players. The opponents will appear in different difficulty levels and can be defeated by targeting their weak points.
How can the game character be improved? A game character can be equipped with 3 weapons and 4 secondary items. Additionally, there are several sub-weapons in the equipment.
There will be items to improve the character itself and its abilities. Weapons can also be leveled up and individual components of the equipment can be combined.
Such improvement items can be acquired in the so-called “scenario missions” within the game. These items can also be found in the “world missions,” which focus on team gameplay.
How can I sign up as a game tester? Players can sign up for beta testing via the Steam page. The test phase will take place from September 28, 2022, to October, with the exact period yet to be announced.
When will the game be released? So far, there is no exact date for when The First Descendant will be released. On Steam, it only says coming soon.
