One of the strongest teams in Rainbow Six Siege, G2 Esports, has suffered a heavy defeat. The winners of the match, FACT Gaming, feel that it doesn’t feel like a real victory.
Who are the teams? G2 Esports and FACT Gaming are two of the teams competing for victory in the GSA League and a total prize pool of €40,000. On Thursday, July 23, they faced each other for the second time in the league.
G2 Esports is a well-known professional team that competes on the world’s big stages. FACT Gaming is a team of newcomers who had to qualify for the GSA League and have been performing poorly lately.
In their first encounter FACT pushed G2 to the limit, but ultimately lost 2:7. In the return match, the result flipped: 7 points for FACT and the victory, 2 for G2 Esports.
G2 had previously lost a single round and was accused at that time of doing so intentionally. In the interview after the match, FACT player Denis “BZ” Dupljak expressed that this time, the victory doesn’t feel right.
G2 plays with substitutes – FACT happy but dissatisfied
What was the problem? Two core players from G2 Esports were absent on the eleventh match day of the GSA League:
- CTZN apparently struggled with internet problems and could not participate
- Kantoraketti was reportedly in Finland, his home country, on that day
As replacements for the two, two players from the leadership stepped in: coach Dennis “Sua” Stahnke and manager Julius “Mayne” Ylänne. According to the rules, they are allowed to play as they are additionally listed as substitutes on the official page.
What impact did this have on the game? G2 appeared noticeably uncoordinated in the game against FACT this time. At several points, it was evident that the players lacked support or cover that they would normally have in a well-practiced team.
In the last round, for example, Virtue, one of G2’s strongest players, dies early on. He tries to engage in a duel with StrkR and loses.
Virtue is often alone on the map, but in such a situation, he would normally have received backup.
Another point is that Kantoraketti is one of the best individual players. He has the most kills in the team in the GSA League and is usually an important player when it comes to securing areas or balancing out disadvantageous situations.
Sua and Mayne have proven to be individually capable players and Sua has previously worked in several national leagues, but the team simply lacked synergy. Teamwork and communication are the most important means to victory, as other professionals have already emphasized.
Narrow victory? FACT is struggling with its own problems
This is what’s happening at FACT: That the newcomers were able to achieve victory is not a given, despite the absence of G2’s core players. FACT recently lost player Daya to WarKidz and has since been playing with a new roster.
The originally deployed Pierre “Slypher” Jaquemond has proven to be a strong player, but apparently did not function well with FACT. Therefore, FACT opted for the also new player Lennard “Witheball” Kimmritz.
According to BZ, with him, the team has regained a similar dynamics as before with Daya, with whom they competed as a highly promising team in the league. However, due to the new players, they did not have time to prepare for G2, BZ says.
The focus during training was more on getting used to playing as a team. This seems to have worked. However, it was likely a fortunate coincidence that both teams had to compete without fully coordinated players.

This is how the 11th match day of the GSA League went
These are other results: The match G2 against FACT was likely the highlight for many viewers with an unexpected ending. However, the other games are also worth a look. For example, the Austrian WarKidz performed strongly against the current table topper DIVIZON – despite the defeat.
Update: One day after DIVIZON’s victory, three rounds were apparently deducted from the team due to rule violations, which were credited to WarKidz. The new score is now 7:4 for WarKidz:
- DIVIZON 4:7 WarKidz (previously: 7:4)
- mYinsanity 2:7 Team Secret
- FACT Gaming 7:2 G2 Esports
- Turtle eSport 3:7 Rogue
Despite the retrospective change, DIVIZON still sits at the top of the table. Rogue and FACT are still competing for the fourth place, with FACT needing to step up and Rogue needing to lose in order for the positions to change.

All information, announcements, and streaming plans for the major German-speaking GSA League.
What’s next? The upcoming match days will take place more frequently. On Monday, July 27, match day 12 will already start, followed by match day 13 on Thursday, July 30. Important matches will take place on those days, such as FACT against DIVIZON, which is considered the most exciting match of the GSA League in their first encounter. The return leg is surely going to be just as strong.
In addition, DIVIZON will face G2 Esports once again, which will likely be the most important match for both teams in the league, as it will likely determine who ends up in first place of the table.
Rogue will also play against Team Secret, which presents an opportunity for FACT Gaming to potentially overtake them with a loss. The coming days will be exciting.
