Manufacturer Nacon has presented a gaming controller for the Xbox and PC in collaboration with RIG. The compact size is intended not only to be comfortable for hands, but it is also equipped with surround sound. But how good is the controller? MeinMMO presents the first reviews.
Nacon, in collaboration with manufacturer RIG, has introduced an Xbox controller. RIG primarily develops headsets for Nacon.
The special feature of the controller is its support for surround sound. Nacon officially presents the controller in its video as “the world’s first Xbox controller with Dolby Atmos”.
While the controller is sold as RIG Compact Pro in the American market, it is known as Nacon Compact Pro in the European market. However, the internal specifications are identical.

The Xbox Controller offers you surround sound thanks to “Dolby Atmos”
The RIG Pro Compact is about 15% smaller than the standard Xbox controller that comes with every Xbox Series X|S. The design, however, is very much oriented towards the official controller. Nacon also relies on an asymmetrical design for the Pro Compact. This means the two thumbsticks are not symmetrically side by side as with the PlayStation controller.
The grips of the Pro Compact are slightly smaller and not as pronounced as on the official controller.
The controller also has a fixed, integrated USB cable. It is 3 meters long. The controller is available in both white and black.
However, the biggest highlight of the controller is not its compact size, but rather the official support for “Dolby Atmos”. This is an object-based sound technology that allows you to perceive sounds in the environment particularly well.
With the Pro Compact, you get free access to surround sound with the “Dolby Atmos” app. Normally, you would pay around 15 euros.
Good and affordable controller with many customization options
There are now several reviews from various testers. Many reviewers particularly appreciate the smaller design of the controller.
What do the testers say? The online magazine PCGamer explains that the shape of the Pro Compact is very comfortable and, especially suited for smaller hands (via PCGamer.com). The buttons are larger compared to the original Xbox controller, which feels good and ergonomic. The extensive software offers many options for personalizing the controller.
The tester from Gamesradar also praises the small form (via Gamesradar.com). The controller is comfortable and precise, and despite the low price, it feels very high quality. However, the thumbsticks lack grip and are quite slippery.
Testers from PureXbox are also impressed by the controller (via PureXbox.com). The controller feels good in hands and is an excellent recommendation as a second controller, especially if a friend comes over to play. However, PureXbox also points out that they find the ergonomics of the official Xbox controller to be overall better.
Criticism primarily concerns the high placement of the option buttons. According to PCGamer, it seems that Nacon oriented its design to the DualSense controller. For Xbox players, the menu, share, and option buttons feel strangely unfamiliar and not very intuitive.
What do the testers say about surround sound? The testers also express positive opinions here. The surround sound works surprisingly well. Opponents can be located much better, and the “Dolby Atmos” app offers plenty of equalizer settings to try out, all at no extra cost.
It’s also cool that you always have the “Dolby Atmos” license with the controller. If you visit a friend and play at their Xbox while bringing your controller, you don’t have to forgo surround sound.
Nacon Compact Pro – Who should consider this controller?
For just under 50 euros, you get a well-manufactured Xbox controller for your Xbox and Windows PC. If the official Xbox controller has been too large for you so far, you should take a look at the compact Pro Compact. However, note that the Nacon controller feels a bit heavier in hand than the official product from Microsoft.
In addition to numerous customization options, you also get free access to Dolby Atmos. This is particularly interesting for gamers who play shooter games.
