Expeditions. This is how the classic dungeons in New World are called, which are explored in a group. MeinMMO author Phuc-Thi Nguyen reveals to you in this article how to stand out with this DPS build against dungeon bosses with a lot of damage.
Which DPS build is it? You love dealing the most damage to bosses or single enemies and thus quickly progressing through the expedition? This build shows you how to deal immense damage and also have a very high survival rate.
What is an expedition anyway? Expeditions are instances where various monsters and bosses roam. In a group of up to 5 players, you must solve various tasks and puzzles alongside fighting enemies.
At the end, you will always be faced with a powerful boss who will make your life difficult. In total, you can enjoy yourself in 6 different expeditions.
The perfect executor with high DPS using greataxe and musket
Why this DPS combination? As a DMG dealer, your job is to deal as much damage as possible in the shortest amount of time. Additionally, a good damage dealer should always have an ace up their sleeve when it comes to survival. Because a dead player deals no damage.
With the greataxe and its associated berserk mode, you receive an attack buff that affects all attacks. The active skills have a high attack value, and when times get tough, you have the ability to be invulnerable for a few seconds. Furthermore, your attacks cannot be interrupted, so you waste no time dodging attacks.
As soon as you retreat, you can heal your health points in the backline while piercing the enemy with your musket or dealing significant damage to monsters that are hard to reach in close combat.
How do I distribute my attributes? “Dexterity” is the magic word here, as this is the main attribute for the musket and the secondary attribute for the greataxe. You can invest most points here. In addition to more DPS, your weapons’ critical hit chance will also increase.
Leave some points in constitution, as you don’t want to struggle for life with every enemy hit.
How do I skill the greataxe for this DPS build? With this build, we focus on the berserker path.
The active skills are:
- Berserker
- Wild Charge
- Rushing Waters
In the following screenshot, you can see the order in which you should develop the skills and passives.
How do I skill the musket for this DPS build? Here, the focus is on the sharpshooter path. This one has significantly more penetrating power compared to the trapper.
The active skills are:
- Power Shot
- Gunpowder Burn
- Shooting Stance
In which order do you distribute your skill points? The screenshot helps you determine this:
What equipment should you wear? For this DPS build, I recommend the light or medium gear weight. Both have their pros and cons.
- Light armor: You will receive 20% more damage output and be much more agile. Since bosses and strong single enemies often deal area damage, you can quickly find yourself in trouble or even defeated in one hit. We recommend this approach for more advanced players who can skillfully utilize boss mechanics and dodging.
- Medium armor: Compared to light armor, you gain 10% bonus damage and your crowd control lasts 10% longer. You lose a bit of damage but are much sturdier. This will make you less likely to end up in panic situations, and you will also not waste time unnecessarily dodging attacks, allowing you to deal more damage. Perfect for newcomers or players who prefer to play it safe!
For attribute bonuses, place particular emphasis on dexterity, the more, the better. You can include constitution, but be aware that this will reduce your damage.
Find your sweet spot with what works for you. And finally, you can utilize strength, but as soon as you can exchange this for dexterity points, do not hesitate to do so.
What does the rotation of abilities with the most DPS look like? Here we reveal to you in what order you should use the abilities. To make the combo clearer, I will add the number of the corresponding weapon path after each “skill.” This way, you will know which ability it refers to in the skill tree (K for greataxe and M for musket).
- Start your skill rotation with your “Berserker” (K1).
- Using your “Wild Charge” (K5), you can immediately jump to the boss and deal 2 hits.
- Then immediately unleash “Rushing Waters” (K4) and do not forget to follow up with a light attack after the 4th strike. The passive “Final Blow” (K10) allows you to deal additional damage.
- During the remaining time in berserker mode, you should use a combination of light and heavy attacks.
Once the berserker mode ends and everything is on cooldown, you need to weigh your options. Can I stay in close combat?
- If yes,
- then try to bridge this time with light/heavy attacks until “Berserker” (K1) is available again. After that, the rotation starts over.
- If no or your character would have nearly died,
- fall back and pull out your musket.
- First, hit with “Power Shot” (M1) and immediately follow up with “Gunpowder Burn” (M2). The passives “initial contact” (M5) and “smoke explosion” (M9) additionally increase the damage of your shots.
- Now the stage is clear for “Shooting Stance” (M3). Once this rotation is completed, you can either switch back to melee or keep going until your character is fully healed and you can jump back into the fray.
Are you also eager for immense damage or DPS in expeditions and play other weapons? Or do you prefer not to take on the DMG dealer role and would rather play the healer? Do you perhaps already have a master plan and know which weapons you will take with you to expeditions?
Feel free to write it in the comments, we would be happy!
